I think you just wouldn't connect the White wire to the locking system in Fig19?
Could it be this simple? Maybe add a switch to this wire to have the option. I'm guessing on the wiring here.

Started on the Mod today. :bananadance:

Followed all the steps in the guide and I've got the drivers side mirror swapped over with the new parts. Other side should go faster tomorrow.

    Couple of tips:
    1) when your doing some grinding to one connection plate do the other side at the same time.
    2) One thing I did is add a spacer/washer for the mirror adjuster to make a more secure fit to the connection plate since only one screw now holds it all together. The spacer is just some aluminum tubing, if I would have cut it long enough the washer wouldn't be needed.
    3) Had to make my motor wires about 6in. longer to get through my wire loom and lining up with the other connectors.

This guide is well written and great pics.

I’m glad you like it. It took a long time to make it but I was really hoping it would pay off but spending a lot of time on the detail. You know, I did the same thing on the Spacer originally! I still have them in the packages. I was going to include them in the kits but when I used them it made it so the Actuator sat too high and when I installed the mirror back on, it didn’t sit inside the Mirror Housing like the OEM Mirror Glass So I removed them. Great minds think alike I guess! Connection Plate cut looks very clean! Nice Job!

Is this just a Tacoma issue with extended the wires? And using the spacer?

I think he extended the wires because he used a plastic loom and wanted everything to line-up with the factory harnesses. I don’t think it would normally be required, but was for his case and aesthetics. It sounds like @KTJO 4x4 doesn’t think the spacer is necessary in most cases due to increasing the overall height, which will cause fittment issues. Looking at the picture from @CRAZMEX it appears this could be done multiple ways... spacers, bushings, thick washers, etc. on a case-by-case basis.

There are a lot of ways you can do this install. That’s the great thing about modding :yay: you find a way that works but when you put multiple heads together you find numerous ways maybe. That’s what’s so amazing. I’m excited to see these installs.

Done! It's Alive! Mirrors Fold and Unfold, and Fold and Unfold. hehe

    Notes:
-Mirrors still adjust but you have to clock everything CW in your head. Right is now up and Left is down.
-Only thing not working is the L/R mirror switch backlighting? Might need to move a pin around or does it even have backlighting?
-Putting the 2 pins into the OEM O1 connector took me for a little ride, little suckers wouldn't push in and I didn't want to force them in...until I saw this.:annoyed:
-The plastic keeper on backside of connector needs to be popped out and the then pins will slide right in.

Why is this? Is it the orientation of the actuator in the housing, or something in the wiring?
Can this condition be corrected somehow?

The pins slid right in for me. They only go in one way.
Also they have no back light. Wished they did but the OEM that came with the 4runner doesn't do it either. At least mine didn't.

Here is my adjuster and where the wires come if that helps for the orientation.

That looks how I have mine and will post a pic later, I won't be able to confirm until Weds though. Hopefully it just needs to be rotated.

Thanks for clearing up the back lighting question.

So your Adjusting Switch is off? Is that correct? I’m thinking that is due to the rotating of the adjuster? I’m thinking of a solution for this. I was wondering if this would be the case or not. As for the backlighting on the switch, I do not believe these switches have the backlight in the research I have read but I have read where some people have made mods out there to convert the switch for the backlighting. All of Toyota connectors have that locking device on the back of their connectors. You pop it up and then you can slide in the pins. Just like if you want to remove a pin you lift the locking device and use a distractor and they slide right out.

What if you rotate it back and drill into the Connection plate in the big flat area where one of the other holes line up since you only need one hole on the adjuster. Then it will be right side up and everything should line up perfectly?

    UPDATE TACOMA MEMBERS:

I sent the Tacoma Auto Power Fold Wiring Harness to my vendor so they can look at it and start to make 14 of them for me :bananadance: Then I will place my Bulk Order after that once everyone has them installed and everyone is good and no changes need to be made. They are currently in the process of making my CUSTOM Extension Harness as we speak. This last week I took the 4Runner Extension Harness and installed it on my truck and took measurements to specifically change it to modify it to our truck needs since our Switch is in our Driver’s Door and not the Dash. I made the Purchase for that last night so that will be getting shipped to me soon. For those that aren’t sure what the Extension Harness is used for in the system, it connects both power fold motors and then routes them to your OEM O1 Connector which connects to your New Adjust & Fold Switch. It makes the system Plug-N-Play!

I think just rotating the adjuster will fix the issue, hopefully the next screw hole will line up. :fingerscrossed:

I don't know why I thought the switch had backlighting.
