I'm done with the tent camping. The hammock is so much more comfortable and I never wake up with my back hurting. Easy to setup and tear down and my entire gear setup fit in the backpack you see on the tree. I take the ENO backpack and a small cooler and I have everything I need for the weekend.

Nighttime view from my bed with the twilights on.

    Morning espresso and cooler.

Down here I always get too hot in a tent. With the covection cooling from the hammock I throw my sleeping bag in it and when it gets below 70 and you get cool just pull the top of the sleeping bag over you. One day I’ll invest in a underquilt and top quilt but not a priority right now.

I had considered going to a cot and a bigger tent but decided to try out the hammocks I’ve had for years last year. I’m sold on hammock camping. We always just used them around camp to lounge in or use as seating. My tent stays at home now. I bought Jake a 3 person tent with better airflow this week. He liked it but also enjoys sleeping in his hammock also. The MSR I have is nice for cooler weather but summertime you don’t want to be in it at night with the rain fly on it.

I thought about a hammock tent but after investigating the typical group sites I saw there were to few trees.

I went with a 4 person Gazelle popup tent. Less than 2 minutes not including the guy lines. It has a screen top so without the rain fly you can see the stars. Even with the fly it's not air tight so in the colder temperatures of winter a heater will be required.

I also wanted some privacy for going to the bathroom and bathing with baby wipes if needed.

Since it's 8' + across and just me I'll add a 2' x 4' multi-height table and a folding chair and it should be perfect.

I'll also be able to use the table outside the tent for food prep and cooking, eating, etc.
