I'm not a fan of the ARB bumper either, the bottom half looks great - but I feel that the headlight hoops are a bit dated looking.

 

Forget off-roading, if something gets kicked up on the highway you could have a busted radiator.

They really don't leave that much exposed, the skids and winch front plate block all of that.

 

I should probably put my skid plate back on.

 

This one is a bit better because it has a winch box.

Those are some old tires, my original dealer 16" spare has them. Firestone Wilderness (I think) A/T's

 

It's completely negligible though, the stock plastic has a hole in it that funnels air right at the rad that the same thing could happen to.

 

Its funny that if your building one yourself, buying sheets of 3/16" plate is waaayyy cheaper than buying sticks of DOM tubing.

 

Also how much a tube bender costs.

I remember our favorite Canadian's tube rollcage that he just tossed in the trash had like $600 worth of tubing.

 

My all pro wraps below the radiator. Thats why then need to use their own skids

 

He doesnt pop in as much anymore, mustve gotten tired of us. The price of the bender aint bad, just like a plasma cutter for plate. Its all the tube your gonna turn into scrap trying to figure out how to bend it and be consistent at doing it.

 

Might be, my Firestone A/T's from 1997 looked exactly like that.

 

Sorta a catch 22, the tube bumpers are much stronger, and have greater clearance, so if you plate in their voids you'd have a very strong bumper. The plates are usually larger and less supported as they get away from the main-body so they're susceptible to folding and causing as much damage as whatever hit them. Even adding reinforced stringers from the wings to the main body on a plate bumper would help this though.

 

He doesn't pop in at all anymore after that one time.
