I’ve never tried these raw yet, but they do have a nice white meat. Very flaky when cooked. Unfortunately, the smaller ones only yield about 2-3oz of meat. The larger ones are about 7-8oz. But they’re easy to catch and take about 30 seconds to clean so it’s worth it.

That’s what the road in front of my house looked like during hurricane irene. Boats, trees, the occasional car floated by and I guess the neighbors porch counts as a dock.

You didn't really lose them. You know where they are but are unable to get to them at the moment.

Me and a buddy once walked back to a pond in the Mark Twain forest during a drought period. It was down about 5-6 ft. I bet we picked up $500 worth of snagged lures.

I have to remember this in the fall when they draw the water down in the lake. I usually forget but it can add up quickly!

I’ve waded out to my neck just to get lures before. I use mostly lead heads, and at the price now a days I can’t afford to lose any of them.

So getting ready for spring made me get a camper.. the camper told me I need a lift since the jack is an inch to low to get a block under it. So I guess next spring I’ll be getting a lift. Or go the cheap route and reverse the ball hitch thingy, undecided yet.

Guess spring is here and everyone is out fishing. Taking a trip to christen the used camper. The camp site has a small pond with what I imagine has bass, cats, crappie and blue gill. Gunna have two little girls that love fishing with me but I haven’t fresh water fished in 15yrs or so. I’ve got small hooks and bobbers. What’s a good spring time bait for the smaller fish? Worms? My dad always taught me to use bacon and hotdogs :rofl:it worked though.

Worms are great. If you can locate crickets this early in the year they would also work.

Can’t believe I’m going to regress to the fish that got me started. Was originally supposed to be just going to a beach about 3hrs south of me but the weather wasn’t looking to be too good so last minute found a camp site out by the NC zoo. Some little fish as well as a trip to the zoo should be a good little Easter weekend for the girls.

Fogging always gives the motor fits the first start. I’ve got it down pretty good between the fogging oil and pickle juice in the fuel. If it’s really really hard to start then the mixture or procedures need to be modified. Newer motors have procedures all their own.

Yeah, the first start of the year is usually a difficult one. I've gotten out 10 times now so both boats are starting easy and running good.
