FOG light work best when they are yellow or amber in color, and mounted low on the bumper. The non white color spectrum cuts through fog, snow and rain better than white. Been running yellow for fogs for forty years, science.

If you want to see if you like amber fog lights, you could get laminx covers for relatively cheap money. That's what I did to help me decide that I do like amber lenses (eventually went with baja designs squadron sports) .

Amber and yellow looks great, but it’s all that it seems to be now-a-days. For looks.

The old argument was the light frequency of yellow has a longer wavelength and therefore more penetrating through fog and what-not than white. From what I remember, busted by Myth busters. So, color seems to be a cosmetic upgrade.

Mine were clear lenses with LED’s & I did the Amber/yellow clear vinyl tint overlay to switch it up. So if or when I get tired of them, I can just peel it off. It literally cost me less than $5 to do lol79BA6A97-4590-4767-AADF-D8257B7EB484.jpg60573DF4-D692-4615-AD58-C92CE1E13210.jpgF2BF080B-B1C8-47C9-8F82-97F37A2AA133.jpg

I joke I joke.. Ive always run clear because it was 'factory'. Either true factory, or factory sourced like in my ARB bar. But I think ambers look totally awesome

I voted Amber for the COOL factor. Haven't done mine yet, though

I like the Nokya NOK7618 Hyper Yellow H11 55W bulbs for the STEALTH factor. They look like stock clear fog lights, until you turn them ON. :anonymous:

Good luck getting the KC Hilites in amber, they're out of stock everywhere (feel free to PM me if you know a shop that has them) and have been for a little while.

I've read opinions in both directions. I have the lamin-x on mine right now to see if I like the look before installing permanent ambers, and while the lamin-x is definitely more on the yellow side of amber and very in your face... I have a BBP truck, and not gonna lie, I kind of like the look as much as the functionality of them. Haven't been in anything truly apocalyptic yet, just some minor snow flurries.

To echo a lot of others here, I have found amber to work better for me in the dust and the inclimate weather conditions. I have also found that amber works better down low like on fog lights, but up high on a roof bar doesnt have the same benefit.

Sport fogs and pro centers really work well, but it would take a lot for me to run the sports on the street.

Found an awesome representation of going from stock to ambers on this website that I won't buy from anyways, but it gave me a good laugh.

Someone ought to be fired for putting this up.

I upgraded my bulbs to the Vosler H11 halogen (thanks to crashburn80). They put out more light and I'm pleased with them. Thinking of covering them with Lamin X yellow.

Same boat as you. I want to upgrade my fogs and decided to go amber after reading everything, but KC has been out of stock for a long time. I'm just waiting for that because I also will stick with DOT/SAE approved only for that location.

I found that amber light reflecting back on airborne particles is less annoying than white light. Like you said... it's not about cutting through, but the advantage (my opinion) is what's getting bounced back.

I went with Hella wide beam amber/yellow factory style bulbs. They project a little more into the truck's peripheral and definitely help in rain and fog, which is exactly why I got them. They may or may not be DOT approved. Wagner makes a street legal version: H11ND. 20190415_101901.jpg
