    I ran 285s on 7” wheels and never had an issue but that was all on road driving. May be a different story trying to go off-road aired down. It was always in the back of my mind though that I was outside of spec recommend by all tire manufacturers. Eventually went with 17x9 wheels like @ChadsPride suggested. It could be in my head but I feel like the 9” wheels are giving me better tire wear and alignment numbers. Just my two cents

    I ran 285/75r16 Cooper STT PRO's on stock TRD OR wheels for a year. Not one single issue that would have made me hesitate to do it again. I bought aftermarket 8" wheels and put the same tires on....No problems there either.
