I just bought my '19 Off Road 2 weeks ago. I took it on the highway for the first time last night. I was using the cruise control for a while when I noticed suddenly that I had reduced speed from the 75mph that I was cruising at, to about 60mph. I did not touch the brake. After re setting another time it slowed about 5-10 mph then picked back up to the cruising speed on its own. Again..I did not touch the brakes.

Has anyone heard of this type of issue with new Tacomas?

Yes, 2019 OR has radar cruise. Your salesman should have clued you in to it. I used it on my 6 week old OR for my weekend road trip. Nice feature when the guy in front of you slows down.

It's adaptive cruise control (guy in front of you slows down, your vehicle does the same to keep a safe following distance)

Let's get the obvious out of the way. Were you in traffic? Was there cars in front of you?

It can be a nice feature, read the owners manual for information on all the technology that is on your vehicle.

Got it! thank you all for the quick replies. Yes it was the adaptive cruise. I do recall the screen in front of steering wheel saying "cruise". Sorry for dumb question, I just
haven't had a chance to go over everything yet.
    Thanks Again!

I absolutely hate the adaptive cruise. On my truck if someone switches lanes in front of me it’s almost like it slams the breaks on. Anybody know if that can be turned off?

Just press AND hold the cruise on button for two seconds or so... will activate “normal” cruise control (aka, turn off the radar system).

You can adjust the distance between you and any interference in front of you. Adjust that distance down and you will minimize the automatic braking.

I wish there was a way to trade my 17 cruise for your adaptive!! It is one thing I wish I had on my 17. Reason? I am used to the adaptive cruise with our Subaru

I wonder if a swap would be too complex?

You’re asking the wrong owner... I like my CC. My post just answered another members concern. BTW, you’ll need to “swap” trucks, the radar system is not something easily installed into a non TSS vehicle.

Thanks for that bit of info. I didn’t see anything in the manual about that. Hell I stopped using it. You will get shot on I95 running 65mph

Something you may want to consider is that the owner's manual recommends against maintaining a constant speed for the first 1,000 miles for break-in. I wouldn't use cruise control until then

I figured this to be the case. I was just dreaming.
