Tornado watches kept popping up on my Garmin... great day for flying a kite; horrible for riding a bike.

We had our annual Bike To The Coast fund raiser this year. We raised some money for the Military heroes campaign. We biked from Los Fresnos to SPI. Its not much biking, but then again its about helping our vets. IMG_0210.jpg63773345-a478-4dcf-b85a-726602667621.jpg

I was looking for something similar for my factory cover and ended up just through bolting my yakima rack to it cause i had all the parts off an old canopy...looks clean and works great. so nice not to have to climb up on anything to get skis or bikes down.

I did find a manufacturer that makes brackets that attach to the track in the bed and stick out over the bed rails so you wouldn't have to modify the cover but they were more than I wanted to spend. Wish I could remember the name.

Guam does have some excellent mtb trails ranging from technical to straight downhill must commit descents. I'm hanging with the local mtb and roadbike crew here and they have shown me some nice areas to ride.

There is a niche crowd for the lefty forks and associated bikes. The fork is likely the only component of any value. The fat bike crowd likes the leftys and you could sell the fork on eBay for $200~. Those old Cannondale bikes are cool though, I would just keep it

Riding in the wind is the worst especially on the road bike. I'll take riding in the rain over wind every day

You both will be real happy with them, they will suit you well. I have a 17 Trance and an 18 Reign. The Giants really are the best bang for your buck, especially since they manufacture frames for many othr brands that most don’t realize.

Yep, sure do. Thing is a damn boat anchor at 42 pounds, but is built like a brick shithouse and really helps keep momentum through the rocky stuff. As with a lot of DH bikes, it runs small, so my large frame is a solid medium in reality.

That said, I am glad I scooped it up off of craigslist.

So far so good! The 1x12 SRAM is wicked. I previously had 1x10.
Think I may need to still up the spring rate on the Ohlins. I'm in between springs, so I've added some preload which I'm not really sure how is effecting things.

Forgot to mention here; got my Yeti Bigtop back from Calfee recently. I had them repair a chunk of the left seat stay that was ground down after my rear wheel got mis-aligned from a hard rock hit. Got the bike stopped as quickly as I could, but the damage was done. I raced on it with the damage for a few more months, but finally decided to send it to Calfee to repair the damaged area as well as sand and re-spray the clear coat on the whole carbon rear triangle. They really did an amazing job and I'm now putting some helicopter tape on the most exposed areas inside the tire cage.

I have always wondered why, with an empty bed and no tool box, does one get bed racks for the bike to mount above the bed or use a hitch rack? Why not just use a tailgate pad? Is it because of the carbon head tube?

Seems like more money to spend and a hassle getting it up there.

I just snagged a year end closeout Yeti at like 30% off. Full XO for what I had previously been planning on paying for a GX build Santa Cruz. Factory spec Fox stuff, nice DT Swiss wheelset, etc.

You can grab bargains out there if you look.

    It's a 2018 SB4.5.
