Been eyeing that one too. Pretty sure I need a Small frame with Yeti though, so no deal for me.

I don't like tailgate pads and really didn't want a hitch rack so I went out and bought some steel and fabbed up some bed bars. I can haul other things in the bed at the same time as the bike and its not hard to put it up in place.

It's actually being sold through Competitive Cyclist. They've got a bunch of closeout bikes that are criminally good deals, including some other more gravity oriented Yeti stuff. In my case, everything I ride starts with about 3k ft of climbing so I wanted something that is biased toward going up. My existing bike is a full rigid Ti Hardtail SS so I'm sure it'll be more than competent...

CC is a subsidiary of backcounty. I would bet that deal is listed in both places.

I'm not hauling half a ton of gear in the bed when I go biking and from every photo I've seen no one else is either. It doesn't seem like the bike is living on the truck 24/7 either.

Just curious, but to each their own...

neither do I but roadtrips are a lot easier without 2/3 of the bed taken up by bikes:

That's fair if you're road-tripping for every ride you do, but for the majority of people who take a short drive to your local trail, it doesn't make sense. If you need that much survival gear for a quick ride I think there's other issues.

For those of us with 6ft beds, there's still plenty of room for other things. Like I said before, to each their own...

I hate anything resting on the paint. Even with a tailgate pad, dirt and dust gets underneath it and rubs on the paint. Racks are a simple way around that issue, all while leaving space for bags, coolers, a tent..... whatever else.

    I hate tailgate pads.
I have a box in my bed, at all times.
This way, I dont even have to roll up my cover.
I would prefer a cap, and outboard mounts, but, not springing for an AluCab right now....

It's an old Sandvik built hardtail that I tossed a rigid fork on and a pair of White Ind. SS hubs. It's stupid light and accelerates like a mountain goat but I'm really thinking about gears at this point. This particular frame predates Disc breaks on XC bikes so it's got Avid SD Ultimates and Mavic 517 hoops so 15 years ago it would have been the dogs danglies. I actually raced it the 2000 race season. That said, it's barely over 20lbs as built and has that magical blend of compliance and snappiness you get from well done TI so it's super fun to ride. IMO, riding bikes like this where line selection was so important and I didn't have endless breaking power made me a much better rider when I would ride my various FS bikes like my Santa Cruz Bullit or my FSR Enduro I owned.
