Just be glad your behind a windshield and not a motorcycle helmet visor. There’s a reason the second half of the word is “shield”. It did it’s job.

On my original windshield @ 15k miles, and Colorado roads are not nice to windshields. It must be a shortbed thing :p

    It's a secret
 right...the amount of time driven or in posession of subject vehicle is one of the key points of the OP; he had the truck for a short period of time before the perfect combination of events caused him grief... I simply point out distance doesn't physically factor into a windshield unlike distance put into tire wear for example...

It's amazing the kind of dumb shit you gotta take to "be a man".

Better yet, be a smart man and hire someone to ride shotgun with a reinforced flyswatter batting those lil f'kers back at whoever kicked them at you in the first place.

I wonder if its feasiable to have an installer put PPF film to the windshield, ive used the cheap yellow laminate film on my fog lights and it does protect them against flying rocks it got the scars to prove it and no cracks or bulls eyes

I don't know, I'd say part of being a man is accepting the consequences of your actions. Many of our actions have possible painful consequences. Such as this one.

I can get on board with that when it’s worded that way.

I was thinking about something like that. There must be some kind of protective, transparent film for windshields.

you could make a fortune if you could design something like that like a custom cut PPF for vehicle specific applications, I cant see how that wouldn't sell like crazy

I've seen other threads pointing towards weaker glass, lots of people had cold weather cracks/cave ins a few years back. I never got a crack in my Civic 2 years ago, but this winter I got three massive chips in the span of 3 weeks driving my Tacoma. The worst one was when I was sitting in a left turn lane and a truck came past pretty slow and hit near the driver's side edge which then grew about 10 inches over the next 4 days from the -35C cold and heat of the defrost.
