That's known by the locals as Helton's Farm Road. It's a shuttle road that goes past Helton's put in on the upper Piney and has a cool over look of The Mother (mean rapid) further towards the Hwy 123 bridge we've grown to know and love so much.

Edit: Wait, I was there and missed Pete getting on one knee?

A bit of good news - I was expecting a longer lead time for the Relentless Fab bed rack (upwards of 8-12 weeks), but got word that it's currently at the powder coater. I should have it in about three weeks. :fingerscrossed: 'Continuing to research RTT.

    A thing or two...
Morning all. Thought I would pop my head back in. Movers are coming Friday to pack/load my stuff, and I'll be in the state on the 29th.

I thought up a couple questions y'all might be able to shed some light on.

First, how is the police presence in the state? If I'm cruising at 10 or 15 over on the highway/interstate, are they going to care? Just wondering how much lead I can keep in my feet, and how close I need to watch my speed. Everywhere is different, and I've got it pretty well figured out for where I regularly drive now.

Second, does AR require vehicle inspections, emission testing?

Third, is AR just the rear license plate or both front and back?

I cruise at the limit, maybe 5 over normally; so, I wouldn't know that. But, we don't do inspections/emissions stuff, and we only have to have rear tags. But if you're rocking 3% tint or something like that, you better believe you're just lying in wait for that fix-it ticket. Haha

It depends on where you are in the state and where ASP is focusing patrols. They seem to have some sort of rotation on what areas they patrol more heavily. No idea what they base those rotations on but it definitely seems like they are anywhere that new construction has been done. I guess they figure people will speed since the roads are nicer than they were in the past.

Municipalities are even worse on what they enforce. I can't comment on the Camden area but I will tell you that Sherwood and Jacksonville are terrible. I've been pulled over in Sherwood for 3 mph over and Jacksonville is the only city where I've ever had an officer write a ticket for seat belt, or even say anything about it for that matter. My personal opinion is that Jacksonville extorts money out of their residents to compensate for lack of a significant tax base (other than car dealerships).

As a former cop, I can say Arkansas isn't as liberal/tolerant with speeding as other states (e.g., MI, FL). On the highways, generally speaking, you would be fine at no more than 10 or so over the limit. As others have said, municipalities and small towns vary. If you are going through small towns, be careful. Many small town departments generate revenue and pay for equipment from tickets, especially the small 3-4 member department. I've been pulled over on 64 west of Wynne several times for going less than 10 over - no tickets issued (helps that I'm a former cop). And unless it's changed in the last year or so, State Troopers have a "must write" policy, meaning you are either getting a ticket or a written warning if pulled over.

Here is but one example of poor policing practices:

Don't mind my flair. I'm ex-LE, so I can say this now, haha.

1.) I've always just waited until some asshole flys by me at 90 and keep a long tail on them for a ways. There will usually be a group of people running at least 80 in the 70 mph limit on the interstates. I always stick with them and at least a good five car lengths back. I think of it as a screen door. They'll get clocked first. Not fool-proof, though.

2.) No, there's literally cars driving around with pieces falling off of them.

    3.) Back only.

Edit: Like @Doc's Rig said above, interstate travel you should be fine within the 10mph zone. If you're coming in on I-40 from Memphis, it will most likely be 2:1 ratio of tractor-trailers to cars. That's a frustrating stretch of road. Any highway or in town travel, keep it at the limit. Too many small departments with no revenue generation that will find a reason to get your money.
