A friend of mine tried to bee keep for 3 years in a row, each year she could do nothing to keep the bees from dying over the winter. And it's not cheap to get the colony and queen to begin with. Her hubby said no this year, not happening. Good luck keeping Yogi out, they are persistent animals.

From what I've read online, the trick with keeping the bears out is to actually bait a couple of the charged wires with a strip of bacon and keep it fresh-ish with bacon grease every couple of days. That way they'll try to take the bacon strip before they even think about trying to get at the hives, and they get a full-strength shock right to the mouth. Apparently that's usually enough to convince them that nothing in the fenced area is interesting enough to bother with. We'll see if it's true or not, I guess, although we've never had trouble with bears at the house. :notsure:

I've heard similar stories from multiple friends...One lost 2 of 3 hives over the winter after doing EVERYTHING to keep it alive..They are very fragile...

Yeah, winter is definitely a much bigger concern for me than animals, honestly. I can do something about animals. An abnormally harsh winter...not so much

He made some fancy bee protection boxes out of solid core insulation that finally did the trick...

She used rigid insulation, light bulbs, a truckload of hay... she was all about trying to keep them going but no luck. They live in New Hampton NH on a hill, at quite the elevation and get some nasty weather.

You are going to have to make a video of that. I want to be watching that on youtube in a few weeks.

This is crazy. Can't believe some of the after images that are coming out. Regardless of peoples stances on the church, that building was beautiful and I'm worried it won't be made right again.

    Good stuff,
I treat my hunting clothes ahead of time and it works for weeks.
They say it's safe for skin, but I only apply to my clothes and gear. I try not to get any on me or breath it in.
Works on tents and camping gear as well. I spray the area where I set up a ground blind.
Keeps ticks away and actually kills them.

    ^^^^^^THIS

Permethrin for bug prevention.. Doc would saturate our uniforms, and gear, in particular, anything that would absorb it. Never us. Regular old DEET for skin.
    Doxycyclene for anti-malaria

Be more concerned about the diseases.... you really dont want to deal with it. Especially if you dont catch it and treat it in time

Yeah the stuff works great but follow the instructions. I do a good treatment to start the year and just keep track during the season about washes.

Most important thing to prevent lyme disease is tick checks daily. Less than 24 hours and you're good.

I use talstar to treat my yard.

I did however pop on tonight to ask a question in regards to a buddies truck. He's got a 2014 DC OR SB 4x4 and just purchased an RV, but was told by the dealership that his truck was only rated to tow 3500, yet I see some folks saying 6500. Could any one please clarify? *with factory tow package*

I pulled one off my daughter's head Saturday night. She had a fever all day and the wife was getting her to bed and felt a bump in her hair. She's on antibiotics now as a precaution independent of what the Lyme test shows since she wasn't herself and the docs aren't taking any chances.

Great doctor for treating conservatively. I've still met some old school MDs who don't consider Lyme to be a real disease.

I got lyme 2 years ago. I now ask my primary for the prophylactic doxycycline to keep on hand since im outside alot. I take it if I find a potential tick. Defintely do not want to go through that again.

Tell your buddy to start with the sticker on his door jamb, there will also be a sticker on the receiver (if it's a factory receiver) stating what it specifically can handle. In short, without the factory tow package and no factory receiver, Toyota limits the Tacoma to 3,500 lbs because it assumes towing from the bumper. With the factory tow package, you at least get a built in receiver and some other goodies to keep the engine and tranny cool (and the bump to a towing cap of 6,500).

The longer answer is, the door jamb stickers will give you the truck's gvwr and gcvwr which will really tell you what the truck can handle with regards to payload and towing. Lots of manufacturers are claiming obscene towing capacities but very few of them have enough payload capacity to handle the tongue weight that comes with a heavy trailer. Your buddy also has a double cab and is towing a camper, if he's like me, that means 4 people in the cab, gear in the bed, plus the tongue weight of the camper to consider. With all that in mind, the answer isn't as cut and dry as, it can tow x,xxx but it sounds like the purchase was already made and fate sealed?
