Sorry man, can’t help you much there. I have 700lb springs because of a heavy front bumper. I’m sure someone will have better info than me.

Just FYI the stock OR springs are 700# because the 3rd gen front end weighs 300lbs more than the 2nd gen stock.

650-700# springs should be that standard on these trucks to avoid sagging. Spring weight doesn’t really determine stiffness unless you go crazy high. Shock valving determines ride quality and style

Can also consider Bilstein 6112/5160 with Dakar leaf pack. That’s what I did and I love it.

Learn something new everyday on here. I had no idea 700# was standard on third gens. That’s exactly why I didn’t want to pitch in advice on the front springs.

So, i had the OME lift with 886x's on my 08 tacoma. If i can give a little advice it would be this. The OME is a solid, reliable lift, for what it is meant for. A lot of off road driving. But if you do mostly highway ( like most of us) I would say wait and save your money and get ICONS or something similar. The ride will be better. I used the dakar leaf pack also and loved it. I would use that again if I had a tacoma. After 60k miles on the OME, it got old. I loved the look of my truck, but the ride...meh. Good luck with the purchase.

To add to this. OME is designed for heavier load carrying over-landing rigs. They specifically preload the shock setups for this. The OME medium kit was excessively stiff for me even with my lo-pro bumper and winch.

Here’s why this is important to know. The OME medium kit comes with a 590# spring on their 90021 nitrocharger shocks. It rode way more stiff than my 700# ADS shocks because of their preload & valving even after 5000 miles. I went through my UCA ball joints in 10 months from the OME setup.

Yes, ultimately it would be better to either save up for coilovers. I have heard bad things from many members about ICON with their build quality and customer service, so it may be wise to steer clear of them.

Some other killer setups are the Bilstein 6112’s or if you have some extra $$$ the 8112’s are freakin awesome too due to the technology they use. ADS, King, and Fox with adjusters are sweet too, but be sure to research the coating quality depending on where you live. Some have said that Fox doesn’t have the best coating, but that’s just forum feedback.

It all depends on your usage. You don’t need top of the line if you just aren’t going to use them for that.

Thx. I like the fact of not having to take off the front mud flaps. I thought those might be the 265 75s. To me they look just fine. I have a 17 OR same as yours, color and all with a LEER 180 mid rise topper so naturally your pic caught my eye. I love the stock ride so much I'm thinking of leaving the 17 alone and building out my 98 just as a camping rig. The 17 is paid off this month so something is gonna be in the works soon.

Solid Choice - you will be impressed with how beefy the 6112s are. I have been a fan since i installed two years ago.
