    Isn't the 4Runner with AWD a limited slip front, that could be swapped straight over?

    Albiet, the BRZ diff has upgrade options.

    Ok so now I'm replacing a driveshaft and rear wheel bearings lol. First test drive after a new diff and sound is still there. FML lol.

    If that still doesn't do it I'm driving this bitch til the diff grenades and then just going with a Ford 9"

    Probably your wheel bearing. My work truck which is a 05 tundra (same motor and possibly same diff but 4.10 gear ratio) was doing the same thing. One day rear bearing exploded and grenaded the diff with it lol. Put a used rear end in it and all is good no more humming sound. Can’t believe my boss’s mechanic didn’t realize it was wheel bearings and not the pinion.

    In the last day or two I have recently heard an odd tapping noise only present at idle... It doesn't sound like a bearing from a pulley as they are all quiet when I take a screwdriver to them. Could it possibly be the spring coupler within the blower snout?

    I'm leaning wheel bearing as well, but damn does it sound like a diff. Praying its the wheel bearing. Drove it a mile or so today to grab a burrito and the sound is definitely getting worse the more I drive it. Maybe 100 miles since the new diff. If its the fuckin diff I'm going back to the diff shop and making him fix that shit. Basically replacing every single thing on the rear end at this point so if its still there I can go back and say "you just set this up and it was immediately fucked up, fix it".

    Yeah it is like a *ch ch ch* almost as if a card is softly rubbing against a bicycle spoke. Sound only in idle while in D. New idle is 600.

    I have not yet, no. I have about 50K on the blower and have about 25-30K on the 2.3 pulley setup.

    I personally dont think it is that. The only time I hear it is at idle but my new idle is 600RPM in D.

    @12TRDTacoma I'm leaning towards coupler based on a spring rotating with the fixed part in free spin. Just an insight but that's where I would look first.

    Even my coworker agreed it sounded like it was in the blower as well. I have a coupler and oil kit on it's way from Khaos... cost me $34 and it comes with the syringe to pull out all the oil and reinstall it as well. Great deal if you ask me. I have plenty of Silicone at work.. so it should be a quick job.

    That's next on my list. I have a spare front diff I need to regear as well. If my current stuff doesn't fix it im gonna do the front end and upgrade the needle bearing on the spare diff while its out. I don't hate you haha. Any tips help.
