had to throw 3k at my IRA to avoid paying the government anything lol. Took a bit too much tax credit with Obama Care for the last 3 months of 2018 when my company didn't have health insurance

X2! Isn't that thing the best!! Mine has been kicking ass and taking names for like 4 years now. Takes off anything I ugga dugga with it

 

I couldn't do that. Already had put too much in. And I donated a grand to college scholarship. Still gave away 1300 in taxes.

 

Just remember, even though it seems to suck, it's better to owe than to have gotten a refund. A refund means you gave an interest-free loan to the government for the year.

 

You really need to look at how much you made and how much was withheld. Or better yet, your total tax lability from your return, and compare those numbers to last year.

Same. I made more money and had a smaller tax liability, but got a smaller refund as less was withheld over the course of the year.

Compare year to year your W2s and 1040s.

 

Some days I just wish it would suck less lol. I think it's only truly frustrating when I owe more than I have and have to make payments to pay it off. Then it digs in when I'm working to pay off the tax. But like you said owing means you did well and made money

 

is it smaller than the first one you had?

 

I know they are supposed to be one time use bolts but I reused mine and had no issues if you're in a rush anyways

Had a nice weekend in Powell again. Weather is perfect there. Saw the billings symphony. Taught some students how to build a mic pre amp. Super cool.

 

Figured I should introduce myself since i'll be moving to Wyoming in a few months. Monte, just on previous experience...whats the most likley cause for an amp to go into protect mode intermittently? Ive watches this thing and tried to figure out what causes this to happen but i cant find any consistency except that its on a certain frequency. Like, when a certain note or small range of notes hits it goes into protect mode then comes back, unless that same note comes back. I dont think its a ground issue...i realize that i should be putting a multi meter on it to watch for any voltage drop but its only a 10" sub and a kicker zx200 amp, and i have a pretty big power wire. It doesent seem like the rem wire is grounding out, this happens when the truck is totally stationary or when its moving.

Fuse in the sub look fine. Does this sound like an internal issue with the sub?

 

likely not a sub issue but an amp issue.

Protect mode can be a lot of things. But more often means a short of some kind. Check your cables, the audio ones. Make sure nothing is crossed up or something is touching. Next, unwire the amp and watch it. Use a song that you know puts in in protection mode in the same spot every time. If it still goes into to protection mode, the amp is screwed up and you will want to send it in. If not. Replace the speaker wire. If it still does it then the sub could have an internal short on the voice coils so that at lower notes/frequencies is crossing up.

 

oh ya thats what I meant, the amp not the sub. Good point about unwiirng the sub wires from it. If the amp goes into protect mode for a certain note/range of notes...its the amp itself not a power supply issue you think?

I tried to recreate the issue one day, and it never did it. I drove around playing song after song on different volume levels and it never did it, then i noticed a day later it started doing it again. Why did didnt do it that day i have no idea...i thought it was weird. But ill find a song that does it, and play it on repeat i guess and unwire the speaker and give it a try.

 

Yeah doubt it's the power unless you have a bad ground.

 

So, seems like my UCA isn't hitting the coil at full droop (sorry for the crap photo, which doesn't show the tire spinning in the air)...which is a bit of a bummer, but the fix is the same anyway so...limit straps.

Well nice to see that uppers fix that issue. Mine are reaming my coils.

Also just for fun. Snap a photo of your cam tabs. Are they the same? How torqued are they?
