OME dakar leafs

Can i add an add a leaf to my ome dakar leafs?

 

Hey, I have a 2001 trd 4x4.

Before seeing your profile, I ordered some 33's from discount tire and some rims from wheeler's offroad.
I was actually going to do the same exact set up that you have. 3" perf accessories bodylift with a toytech ultimate lift with probably camburg uca's and the dakar leaf spring set-up.

Anyways, I wanted to know about the body lift install. Have you had any issues. The 30 pages worth of instructions seems a little tedious. lol, also did you have to buy anything else like extended brake lines when you added both lifts together. Did you upgrade any of the hardware or find any of it weak. Is the weld holding up ok on the shifter? and I didn't see anything about raising the transfter case shifter in the instructions. did they have a set up for those? Pointers on installation.

Sorry for all the questions, but I really want to make the right investment for my baby. The fabtech 6" looks nice but I want something that I can get more flex out of.
This set-up seems perfect. I don't want to go with 35's due to having to gear down my diff's plus the gas mileage will go to shit. How is the mileage with 33's?

I'm also going to go with a borla exhaust, cat back. any other recommendations for that?

If you're looking for flex as in articulation/wheel travel you need to look at a long travel kit. A body lift isn't going to do anything for that, it's just going to give you clearance to stuff bigger tires and cause more body roll. Your choice but I'd skip the body lift.

 

The body lift won't do a whole lot. But with the billies and the dakars, I will get a lot more travel than the fabtech set-up. With 33's and just a 3 inch, at full flex you will rub. the body lift just helps with some clearance issues and I think it looks better having some space above the tires. Crammin 33's in a 3" space just brings you back to a beefier stock look. The fabtech set-up in my mind is strong, but between the giant blocks in the back and the short travel suspension in the front, it just doesn't sound like a true off road design.

I guess what i'm sayin is, Toytec really has their shit together.

 

I also need to tow my tent trailer and a 4 wheeler with me for hunting. I love the look and feel of a long travel tacoma, but I just don't go wheelin as much as I'd like to. My truck is a daily driver, a dump truck, a tractor, a toy, and an angel. I wanna treat her right. The only reason I wanna do a body lift is so I keep good clearance when flexin and so I can keep a lower center of gravity than a 6" suspension. In fact, when I do my suspension lift, I am going to try to keep the billies at 2 and the dakars stock with nothing but the angle shim. This will keep the factory rake and won't look retarded when I have a load in the bed.

For me it's the perfect set-up.

I did notice, however the the OZ man gave a link for add a leafs on 2nd gen dakar packs. Did you find anything for 1st gen? Just curious in case my dakars can't handle the weight of my trailer or start to sag.

yes you can. they make what they call an "HD"leaf to add to the pack. i believe it is like $50 or so plus another $20 for shipping. trdparts4u im almost positive carries it.

EDIT: whoops...thought we were talking about 05+, my bad.

 

OP's truck is a '98 and Whitaco's is an 01 , I could only find the Dakar add a leafs for the '05 - 10
