Why are there so few 1st gen's on 17" rims?

    I meant whether they fit w/ stock suspension - I know 2nd gens fit that size w/o any rubbing.

    I put 17 inch factory take offs from a 2018 Tacoma on mine. No problems.
    I would probably prefer a 16 inch wheel/tire but it was cheaper to buy the 17 tire/wheel combo than it was to buy new tires for my 16s and they don't look that bad (in my opinion). (sorry for the bad parking lot picture).

    Lol what makes me laugh about this is that I feel like people on the Tacomaworld group on facebook NEVER go to the forum or something. Someone posted a pic of cash and stated where can I get some KO2s....I commented that If he was around my area I know a place for like $650 installed and my tire size: 31x10.5R15

    ..... first comment I get is: "I don't think anyones running 31s on 15 here in the tacoma world"

    :rofl::bananadead:

    EDIT: I commented back with saying I am on TW and I am running those so that's false. He wanted me to prove it and I posted with my truck with that size... hasnt responded. lol

    That's an odd flex to claim no one runs 31s. Why would "no one" be running that size when that's what came on them from the factory?

    It's kinda like the OP's question as to why there aren't more people with 17's. It's because that's not a size that was available from the factory. So it makes sense that whatever the trucks came with would be more popular. But then again, plenty of people run 20' on their tacomas too. We just don't typically see them posting in the off-road and 4x4 sections, lol...

    it's actually the 1st Gen "decorative" type front skid that only blocks the space below the radiator.

    they made one for 4Runner/Tacoma and also one for the Tundra/Sequoia

    Not true! My '99 came with 15" OEM steel wheels which I still have. I bought a set of the optional OEM Chou Seiki 15" x 7" aluminum alloy wheels used on Craig's List and powder coated mine in black. I will be switching over to the 4Runner OEM 16" aluminum alloy wheels so I can install E load rated tires.
