Yeah I’m working on a usb power outlet attachment, I’ve ran into a couple issues lately but I will release that, for now though I put notches on the plates that allow a cable to be run through for these kinds of applications.

Good choice on the holder. My favorite and convenient that it’s got an existing 1” ball mount.

Thoughts so far?

 

After sitting on my desk for a month, finally got this bad boy installed. It's a sleek product and looks really nice. I was afraid it would be a little too obnoxious in my sight picture but it really isn't. I was able to pair it with a behind-dash USB port for the Qi magnetic wireless charger I used. The products I used (besides the USB cigarette adapter) are mentioned in the product discussion below. Long story short, I used some wire and an add-a-fuse to supply up to 15A to a cigarette block with the adapter, which feeds the wireless charger. All sits behind the dash. According to my S10+, I am getting "Fast Wireless Charging" which is exactly what I was shooting for!

I finished it at night so I'll have to post some pics this weekend.

If enough are curious, I can explain the long story.

 

Do you find that your Tackform holder shifts to the side when you put your phone in one-handed? I find that no matter how hard I tighten the RAM mount arm, I can't get it to stay in one place when I press my phone into the mount with one hand (due to the pressure it applies laterally while putting in the phone).

 

I'd be really interested in some pictures and a short write up of how you tapped/wired the power. I am so awful with electrical things it would be really helpful. It's the one thing holding me back from taking on this project.

 

mine was fairly stiff at first. I added a few drops of WD40 to the two pins it slides along when expanding and that helped quite a bit. That, and using it more loosened the spring up.

You could try to run this cable through your one of these notches to clean up the set up a bit.

 

Swivel magnetic mount vs swivel magnetic kit. Anyone have input on one vs the other?

 

They are the same, the kit includes an arm and a ball mount.

Yes, I typed that wrong. I meant to see if anyone had any input on magnetic mount vs the swivel mount options.
