Not only is it a larger tire, wider tire, but it’s also heavier and not a highway tire. I’m guessing you had the firestone destination LE2’s? That tire is strictly a highway tire. If you switched from those to the goodyear wrangler kevlars that are on the OR you would of taken a hit too, although maybe 1 mpg difference between those and the Falkens. More surface area equals more friction. That along with the added weight and larger diameter all play a role when it comes to gas mileage. Even the PSI your running them at can play a slight role.

First tank with the wildpeaks and I got 20.7 mpg. A bit lower than average but close to typical winter mileage. Drove from Denver to Frisco, below. Lots of uphill, 4th and sometimes 3rd gear, about 5000 feet of elevation gain. Corrected mileage for the larger tire is 19.4 mpg. Not bad for such a drive.

While we're here; does anybody have some recommendations for light weight rims? You know, for MPG purposes:D

Haha, I mean short short trips around town I will see something similar. 5+ mile trips I've been seeing a lot of 20+ numbers lately which has even surprised me.

20-40 mile random trips on the freeway and through city traffic I avg 17-20. Just get the truck up to speed quicker and cruise at that speed. Anything over 70mph and mpgs suffer

My truck did this stock with the front chin spoiler still attached. I actually averaged 26mpg right off the lot as i immediately went on a 5000 mile road trip
