Hello folks, I want to replace my old 2000 Tacoma. Can you give me some insight on the new 2019s. The good the bad if you will. I really like the sport and limited models. Thanks

+1 waiting if you can. Nothing major wrong with the 19's,but the 2020 has a few decent upgrades to it

Just traded my 2016 SR5 Access Cab 2wd for an 2019 TRD Sport 4dr 2wd. There is a noticeable improvement in the drive train over my 2016. Shifts smoother and power comes on smoother. Not so much gear hunting. I loved my 2016 but, love the 2019 much more. The 2020 doesn’t have any improvements I’m interested in.

Do some homework... you may get a better deal on the 2019’s after September as the 2020’s are available. The somewhat significant refresh scheduled for the 2020 model year will reduce the price of the 2019’s more than “normal” as the dealers will be trying to dump the ‘19’s late this year.

My local Toyota dealer was willing to wheel and deal.

    I got a sweet deal on a 2019 TRD Off-Road.

Yep I got a sweet deal on a loaded up 2019. A 2020 will be $3,000 more for $400 worth off stuff.

I always recommend getting an extended or overnight test drive to see how you like it and have a chance to drive on roads you usually use.

New head unit and adaptive cruise control did it for me. I also believe the seat can be moved back farther too. Put me in the waiting list, even if I have to ride a motorcycle in the rain for a few months.

I would like Apple Car Play but not worth paying a couple of extra thousand more, when 2019's can be got at a discount the rest of the year.

This is just a super truck. Not much bad to say about it, except it's a *little* pricey for a small truck, the stock stereo could be better, and the gas mileage is meh. But we're talking about a truck, not a Honda Accord here.

I think it hits the sweet spot between refinement/comfort/tech, and truck performance.

I have adaptive cruise and auto high beams. I have 0 interest in Android auto and run Sirius so it works for me.

Android auto is the only thing that is nice on the 2020 and i don't need my car to do anything other than Bluetooth for music so i got the 2019 instead of paying extra few k for the 360 camera and Android auto/apple car play

IIRC, the big updates for the 2020 is apple/android carplay, and a power drivers seat w/ height adjustment.
I was concerned about that, being tall, but found I fit well in a 2019 without the moonroof. Oh how I miss the moonroof though. Tall people problems

The 19 has the adaptive cruise, lane departure warning and auto headlamp too, and the tech package gets you blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert

This is why I bought a 2019. I thought the tech and premium pkg combined with a tonneau, steps and sill pkg for 6k+ off was not happening in a 2020.

There is absolutely no difference between either years after software updates. Zero.
It is all in your head. Same engine, same tranny, same everything.
You are missing zerks on the latter models on your drivetrain which sucks imo. That will cause you issues latter.
I have driven all years and there is no difference.
Your suspension probably is different which is the case here.
I would trash any factory suspension unless it is Fox or better, which you do not have on your model.

As someone who lives in a place where the interstate is literally stop and go sometimes, I would like adaptive cruise to work to 0mph. 2019 works down to like 25 or so (don't know off the top of my head), 2020 gets the same system as the new Rav4 which goes to 110-0mph.

Don't know the pricing on the '20s yet, but at the end of March I had a dealer drop $6k off of sticker with no effort for a 2019 TRD OR manual. The price went from $39,700 to $33,900. It had every option except leather and automatic. I ended up going with a '19 Pro because they told me they would have the truck on site when I got there and they didn't have it because it was at their off-site storage lot. I checked out the Pro the next day and I got what I wanted for a trade-in offer and went with the used one. No regrets, but the deals are real on the '19s.
