Tacoma bumpers and splash guards

Hi everybody,

I have a question for owners of Tacoma with a standard 4X2 or 4x4 version (without the SR5 package). How do you like the black plastic bumpers and/or splash guards ? They are not painted like the rest of the body, is that right ? I want a 4x4 standard Tacoma but I'm afraid in few years, the colour of the plastic is going to be "flat" (a kind of grey). We see often this on old Tercel or Echo with front bumper. It's kind of ugly ... Do you know what I mean ?

Please take a look of the pictures I attached. First one is the Tacoma model I am looking for. Second one is an old Echo with a plastic bumper? Do I have to expect to have this issue with my Tacoma after few years ?

I like the flat black fenders...I wish it was an option on the TRD package..but I went vinyl and love it. I am sure there is a way to protect the fender from the sun so it doesn't fade. You can always try and trade someone for some color match ones.

The fascia is known to fade really badly after about 8 years. The only way to really avoid this, is constant garage parking, and not offroading it. If you wheel your truck, it will over time make it worse.

Different vehicles, different bumpers, same aspect.

I followed this write-up when I painted the claddings on my WJ. My bro now has it 2 1/2 years later and it is still holding up nicely.

You can only expect that material to fade eventually.
