I am inclined to agree with ryantaco, went for a drive before removing and after, same day same heat index, same conditions. In Vegas heat 106 yesterday, it runs cooler, slightly with similar driving habits and ambient temp, and picks up a little faster. Also more exhaust push at tailpipe (proven). Used my handheld anemometer, it showed an increase and yes it was used under as controlled conditions as possible....

Its been dynoed on different dynos, by different people. Now...Heres some food for thought: Some dyno runs were done with the OEM intake, then with air the filter removed entirely. Gues what the gain was? 1.3 hp. Thats it. With NO filter in the box, 1.3 hp was gained. Look at the size of the charcoal filter. Given the surface area, it is transparent to the engine. Now, I did this mod as well, and desperatly wanted to see a gain. There was NOTHING. 0, zip, zilch, nadda. Gadget at URD dynoed it, and saw.....NOthing.

I don't see any dyno info on the w/o charcoal filter mod. Did I miss it? I saw the filter/ no filter, but none without the charcoal filter. Show data and quit saying, transparent, doesn't matter, don't "see" a difference and just simply show the data.

I support the fact its probably statistically insignificant, but I don't see any data to support or discredit this claim like a dyno graph. Just a lot of "feels" more powerful placebo comments.

BTW - I ripped mine out accidentally yesterday. By the time I knew what I was doing, it was too late. D'oH!

I just pulled mine today and it does seem like the throttle response is crisper. I'll be tracking it by mpg too. It might not show on the dyno:confused: but it makes since that if you remove a restriction weather it be a filter, neck down, ect, it should make a improvement..... no?

The charcoal filter gives no restriction to the intake system.

Noticed a difference the second I pulled out of the driveway...Not sure on MPG at this point but the throttle does seem to be a little more crisp and responsive. The truck seems less "heavy"/sluggish. I was doing 60mph before I knew it...

Alright, so it looks like taking off the second filter is a good idea...but OFF THE RECORD, are their any damages that could be caused by removing the filter IF the removal is done perfectly? Wanting to do it, but dont wanna ruin my engine!

I don't see how it could...the 2nd filter isn't incredibly thick; and the primary filter is. I would think (educated guess) that nothing harmful gets through that 1st one...but what do I know
