    Hello

New to this site, just joined.

I'm looking for real world information regarding 3rd Gen. fuel economy results for the auto. V6 trucks over a wide variety of driving styles and conditions from city to highway driving and topography. I'm looking for information regarding mostly stock rigs right now but will listen to all information but I would like to know what kind of detailed modifications have been done to your rig(s) to include tire and wheel size changes, gearing changes and any additional modifications made.

    Thanks for all your assistance.

Stock trucks can see over 20, depending on location and driving style. Modified trucks can see mid teens or worse.

I see 2-3 mpg better with the manual I have now than the auto I had.

    Welcome to TW.
I have a 2018 Sport, DCSB, 2wd, stock tires/suspension. In the city I see 16 to17 mpg. On the highway I have seen mid 20's. I tend to be a bit heavy on the throttle, but thats how my truck likes to be driven. I didnt buy it for good gas mileage.

I think you will find a wildly varying number. I am around 14mpg average (taking into account winter, summer and weight differences), but not stock. I have seen 21-22 on this forum, and all the way down to 11-12mpg.

I am on an OME lift (3") and ko2's, ARE topper with prinsu rack front and back. I run a drawer system in the bed that maybe runs 75 pounds when empty, but it's usually full.

When the bed is full I am loaded down with pelican cases of video gear that runs about 600lbs.

    Welcome.

There are literally dozens of threads on this topic. In the upper right is a little box that says 'search'.

If you read it all you'll be here till summer.

    Summary.

Stock trucks driven at legal limits on flat-ish terrain will return EPA MPG, or maybe a touch better.

    Everything else is down hill.

If MPG is a criteria for you, a truck may not be the choice to make. Many folks who think they need a truck would make out just fine with an econo box, CUV or even a mini van with a hitch and small trailer for those bi monthly chores.

If I drive 70-75 maybe 80 here and there I can get around 23 hwy. My average mpg is around 19-20, but I also drive pretty aggressive.

Mixed driving. Mostly like grandpa (I drive the speed limit). Do tow two trailered boats fairly often. One is roughly 1250# gross and the other is roughly 2500# gross. So far the hand calculated mpgs per tanks have been right around 18-19. My truck is a 19 OR DBL cab 4x4.

all depends on mods and or load plus how heavy of a gas foot you have. with a prinsu cab rack, awning, gun case, and slightly bigger tires, i avg 17 mpg on 87 octane

2019 trd of 4x4 dcsb here . I cant get over 16mpg no matter how much i try to drive normally. However, the majority of my commutes are on heavily trafficked streets and residential neighborhoods.

Forgot to mention, I do have a diamondback aluminum tonneau cover that weighs about 75-100lbs, 2heavy gun cases in the bed with 50-75lbs of guns/gear/armor/ammo at all times. Other than that, the truck's stock.

Starts and stops can kill mpg. I try to take routes that have fewer stops.

Hope you’re legit. Lots of questions on this and search bar works. Typically 1st post are not so clearly written.

    Here’s one of my posts:

Did the Gas Mileage Calculation today from my detailed gas logs. (I log every fill/type etc.)
I KNOW everyone loves seeing this thread Everywhere/Everyday but here are actual results on my 2017 DCLB OR both before and after Mods vs all the bull shit spewed forth by idiots.

I did my measurements from Winter Mix 10% Ethanol...I listed the Summer Mix equivalents in [brackets] next to those number for those of you in the South who don't have to deal with Winter Mix as much.

    • Average of 2500 Miles On Stock Wrangler 265/70/16s = 17.5[17.8] MPG - Note: When truck was new-I was getting used to hitting the gas pedal style of Gen IIIs and drove somewhat at varied rates to properly flex the engine.
    • Average of 2500 Miles on Upgraded Tires to BFG KO2s 265/75/16 (Yes I did the math to accommodate for the greater travel distance of bigger tire) = 18.85! [19.1] Note: Yes better...ok so maybe I drove like a grannie that cycle
    • Average of 2500 Miles on Lifted/Upgraded BFG K02 285/70/17s (Yes I did the math again) = 17.7 [18] MPG - Note how this associates similarly to Stock.
    • Average of 500 Miles on Shift Sense Pro on the Lifted/285s with math adjustment = 16.1 [16.4] MPG - Note: this makes sense as I'm driving like a maniac with the Shift Sense Pro because the thing rocks and my data set is only 500 miles so the standard deviation is greater.

With a mix of in-town, rural, and interstate driving I'm at 23.3 MPG. I have 300 miles on my bone stock SR 4x4 V6 and I am pleasantly surprised by the MPGs.
