some people run it without the subframe brackets, others leave it in. Reason for leaving it off? I don't know. Reason for leaving it on? A bit more bracing aft and stern. I left mine on.

By leaving it on, you're not lowering the skid's ground clearance? Gonna install mine this weekend. Thanks!

The TRD skid has spacers so the ground clearance is the same except for an additional MAYBE .07" from the bracket metal thickness. Very negligible in thickness and loss of ground clearance.

You don’t remove the subframe. You remove the factory bolts and replace them with the bolts and sleeves included with the TRD Pro skid plate.

Do not buy the 2nd gen TRD pro skid plate. Its thin useless aluminum only for aesthetics and there's nothing special about the 200 dollar price as that's what they always go for.

Just curious. Will these work for a ‘19 TRD Sport?

Yes, but you’ll have to remove the air dam.
(But you don’t want to keep it, anyway.)

Anyone know the actual thread sizes of these bolts?

Never mind...found the info I needed.

    17mm hex socket front bolts. Threads: M12 x 1.25 x 67mm
    17mm hex socket middle bolts. Threads: M12 x 1.25 x 90mm
    12mm hex socket rear bolts. Threads: M8 x 1.25 x 35mm

    just wrapped-up the install.

I almost took off the spacers and retainers off until I realized they were necessary parts. If you’re skid plate comes with the spacers and bolts pre-installed, don’t take them off. I actually took the two retainers off the 12mm bolts and one off the 17mm bolts. This was because the picture in the online instructions didn’t have the bolts pre-installed as skid was being attach to the frame. I was able to put everything back together.

I torqued the 17mm 25ftlbs. Are you guys sure it shouldn’t be 33ftlbs? How many people had their weld nuts break at 33lbs?

Was going to do it myself but wanted it on asap (you know how that goes) so I had a local off-road shop do it for $20. Easy peasy with the truck up on a lift. Took all of 15 minutes. Subsequently I traded the truck in on a 2019 and the dealer swapped it out for me.

I know but so many people have broken their weld nuts using 33 lbs apparently.
