One other thing is the fan isn’t something you can install retroactively - there is additional framing on the roof to accommodate the weight and the power is run to it under the insulation.

I went with the fan option on my order, just think of the sun warming up the tent in the morning, makes me hate life when i go backpacking.

If only Vagabond made the front hinges on the inside, the front would look pristine, now its kind of rough and industrial.

If you’ve ever seen the assembly process, you would change your mind. Plus, these hinges can be sourced relatively easily, worldwide; should any kind of crazy catastrophe transpire.

ooooh I dig the grey!! looks awesome!

Congrats on the order! I second all the input on the fan.. If you ever think you are going to want one, have it done from the beginning. I was originally going to install the fan myself until Phil filled me in on the additional bracing as @danneskjold mentioned. Additionally everything that vagabond offers as an option is extremely fair priced. When you get down to the details they are not charging much for install over the material costs and most of it is easier to do before the Drifter is fully assembled.

Plus they do a kick ass job with everything they install :)

According to Phil: (powder coating) is a process that has to start way back when they install the major components since they have to use epoxy instead of polyurethane sealant. It is a very involved process.

the lower camper and lower roof are assembled before powdercoating and the camper is covered inside and out. It is a really nice finish and takes a huge powdercoat oven to do it properly.

At the time I ordered, it added ~3 weeks to the process. Not sure if that timeline has changed any. I think it needs to be added prior to or at the time of the final invoice. but you might get bonus points if you identify the need sooner.

Congrats! What order number are you?

About the windows, you can still change them and you have lots of time still to change them. I selected no windows at all but I told Vagabond that I want to select windows options at a later date since I'm undecided right now. Going to add a fan option now to which I did not select.

@jberry813 just rolled out in his black powdercoat Drifter just a few days ago. Looks tits. Don’t recal a Barcelona red rockin Gray powdercoat yet. But, now that there are more than 40 of these suckers in the wild, it’s gettin hard to keep track...

I agree the grey is nice, reminds me of my grey James Baroud I had on my truck a few years back. Shame that RTT fell apart, or started to. Although I probably never would have bought a drifter had it not.

I thought JB hardshell tents were solid and one of the best ones up there with Autohome?

Apparently, mine was used for 30 nights and was starting to show signs of rapid failure:
    -Celing fan failed
-Fibre glass was starting to show stress marks coming out of the bolt holes
-Tent material was developing pin hole leaks/light spots.
-rivets were wearing holes into the fabric.

It was a great tent, but I am pretty sure mine and about 4 others I know were all made on a Friday afternoon/Monday morning. That being said the guys at OK4wd took care of me immediately and offered me a full refund as it was going to be a logistical nightmare to get it back and forth to Canada for warranty/repair work. At least with the drifter if I need something, I tell Phil to get on a plane, buy him some beer/house him and we repair the drifter and have a good time.

So the extra leafs are in, bed stiffeners are in, rubber plugs for the gaps by the cab are in. Ready for the drifter yet? Can I bribe someone to be the next in line, lol?

Wrong company. I don’t think Vagabond works that way ;)

...which as customers I think we can all appreciate

Less pictures floating about makes the waiting easier... (for me, at least, but I do love seeing buildout pics!)
