I noticed that there is an TRD rugged trail edition that comes with black wheels. I looked on toyota's site and couldn't find a picture of it anywhere. I'd love to get some black wheels for my truck but i want them to be made for Tacomas so i dont have to deal with the hub-centric/lug-centric difficulties. Does anyone have a picture of these wheels or know where i can check them out. When i did a google search i just found a bunch of stuff for BFgoodwrench rugged trail tires. Thanks in advance

I think they are still "in production". I searched the Southeast for one and the first truck hitting this area with that package will be the end of September.

Model Year Model Exterior Color Interior Available MSRP
    2008 4WD V6 (5 Speed Automatic) Super White FU13 09/22/07 $29,433

The hubcentric wheels are not a problem provided you use the spacer. If you buy wheels and the shop does not install a spacer then you are not going to a competent shop. I asked about spacers at two shops and they have been using them for years. I felt like an idiot for asking.

i'm not talking about the tires, i'm talking about a new TRD edition they are gonna offer. Its called the TRD off-road rugged trail edition. Not much different than the TRD off-road but they come with black baja rims. I just want to see the rims so i can decide if i wanna get them. I already have the BFG rugged trails on my truck.... not impressed. They ride great but dont do well in mud. I have to figure out what im gonna buy when its time to upgrade.

But anyway, does nobody know what these new black baja rims look like?

Thanks for the advice Reid. If i dont like those baja rims i'll start asking around about competant shops. I'm slightly worried about transfering the air pressure sensor. i have a feeling if i dont get it done at toyota then they will screw it up and i'll have constant problems with my sensor light. anyone have any experience with this issue?

    Copied this off Tacoma Territory:

Saw an 08 on the back of a hauler today!!
Must have been an 08 because it had black trd wheels, and the trd sticker had an illistration of mountains under the text..
As far as I know those items were not avail on 07s from the factory.
Other than that, at a glance they look exactlty the same on the outside.

The wheels were the trd style, and in gloss black..

I am sure as we roll into the 2008 model year a little further there will be more than a few things that are changed on the truck that are not listed currently on the site. For one, I know that Silver Streak Mica is gone and it has been replaced with Flint Mica. They are not listing that on the site, but the trucks are shipping with that color already. I also heard there was a slight tweak to the grill, but until someone takes some photos of an '08....your guess is as good as mine.

I dont understand stupid little changes like changing the name of a color when it really looks pretty much the same. What was wrong with the old silver? what makes this other silver more applealing? i think it's just so they can say that there are changes to the new year's model

ndcouch: I will get my new rims and tires in about a week. I have been thinking about the tire pressure sensor thing. I think I am not going to install them, and just cut the wire going to the LED. I dont know why they put this thing on a truck anyway. I could understand a family car, maybe something someone would drive who cannot check their own tire pressure. I can look at my tires, I can check them. Actually when I think of it it is kind of embarasing to have these on my truck right now. How lazy could I be?

Reid, i thought the same thing when i found out i had them, but it was nice having on the interstate when i got a screw in my tire. It let me know to go ahead and get off the interstae and take care of it. It knew it was losing air before i could tell. It was kinda nice

was at the dealer 2 days ago and they had a 2008 TRD off-road rugged trail edition, had black rims non-painted fender flairs, cool looking skid plate. I am thinking of getting one but the dealer only had one four door.

ndcouch: My tires came in early, got them installed today. I actually did get the tire pressure indicators installed. The guy said if they are on alloys they should fit on almost any other alloys, so he put them on. Thanks for the help. The new wheels and tires look killer. Very happy.

toco: Could you head back to the dealer and get some photos? I am sure a post of some photos would be very very popular here!

Great, Just when my truck was different than any around here. Thats why I bought black to go with black wheels and be different. Now every Tom, Dick and Harry can go to the dealer and buy something just like mine looks with no thought about style or being different. The first day I had my truck home I cut the mudflaps and did the fog mod, 2 weeks later I had black KMC wheels and 265/70/17 NITTO's.

I was fortunate to have another set to lay on top and trace them out at the length i wanted, I used a new razor knife blade and took my time. Ya i traded them for the set I have now, sorry. Where is the site link?
