Looking for a cap for my 2011 TRD Sport. I need one for work and I’m curious what recommendations anyone might have. My budget tops out around $1k, maybe would spend a little more for the right one. Any help or advice is appreciated 186E774C-C3F7-4D9F-9B64-47E1B65BB30A.jpg6297E60C-A08B-4FDB-97FA-E38CD8136C95.jpg

I paid $900 for my Leer in 2007. The one for my F150 was $1400 3 years ago and they are both pretty basic caps. If you look around for used caps they can often be found for $300-$400, but the odds of an exact color match is slim and getting it painted to match gets you close to $1000. Some colors look fine even if they don't match.

Personally I don't think the aluminum caps look that bad if they are the right color. They look a LOT better than the soft tops lots of guys use and cost less too. Around $500-$600 and they are easy enough to put on or take off without any help. If you think it might not be on there all the time I'd look at those.

Check the Washington DC Craigslist. A friend has one listed for $850.

What exactly is wrong with it? New caps are starting nearly double your budget. Therefore whatever you can score used at $1k is going to be your best option.

I have a canopy by Innovation on my 1st gen 4wd Tacoma.
I picked it up on Craigslist for a great deal. But I can’t find any replacement parts for it. Nothing comes up when I search online.

It’s a carpet lined interior fiberglass canopy with a raised top for more inside space. I love it but I’m trying to replace one of the side sliding windows with one that opens upward with cam arms. So of course I need an exact fit.

Anyone know where I can get this product for an Innovation canopy?

Just found out that most caps have a standard variety of window sizes and I’ll probably be able to get a fit from ARE or Leer

I paid $700 for it, got it lightly used but in great condition. I sprayed it to color match my truck, but will probably have to spray it once more if I want the color closer to perfect. Hard to tell in the picture I posted because of the glare, but it’s slightly off. The original color was silver. 947C679E-588E-4C86-8E6A-D68054475969.jpg

It needs to be specific to your truck. I believe the measurements align by gen (1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen). Obviously, the bed size also determines the size of the shell you should get. With a little research, I found it’s best to stick with tops designed for your specific make and model truck. Some people will tell you they are interchangeable from truck to truck, which I’m sure is true in some cases. But in order to minimize the possibilities of the top not fitting properly, I’d stick to a model specific shell. Facebook marketplace is a good place to start looking.
