Ha. That’s about the simplest and smartest Mod I’ve seen yet. Kind of ridiculous GFC hasn’t released brackets for that yet... nice work!

Also is that handle a new GFC piece or did you bolt that on to help pull it down?

How’s is it camping for you? Still heading west?

I added that handle to help me pull it down. Really struggle with that so this has helped. But it's not a sturdy handle. I will be camping all this weekend in it. Have yet to camp because I did a 4 day cannonball run out to Bozeman solo 3 days of it. Almost every night during the week I've been driving to my friend's shop to get the truck all ready. And yes, still going west... Put in my 2 weeks in 2 days ago. Will drive out 4/29

Awesome!!!! Super happy for you!!!! I’ll be meandering through Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and maybe down to Utah for 3 weeks in June. Maybe we will cross paths. Bozeman and back to Atlanta is a brutal trip for such a short time. I’m planning 3 days each way and that’s still 10 hour days.

Great idea! Did you move the third brake light to the rear hatch or was that done at the factory?

I am so sorry but my not mechanically inclined self has no idea what you just asked LOL... The awning doesn't block the brake light and my friend hooked it up for me with the wiring GFC gave me. Did i just answer your question?

Ah, I see that it was factory installed. My light was installed on the extrusion which would be covered by a rear awning. I think I'll move it.

What’s the general consensus on the extra window/entrance? Worth it?

Has anyone gotten insurance on their camper? I just called and got a quote to add my camper. They basically doubled my rate! Curious what your insurance has quoted.

    Different strokes for different folks.

    Pros:
-Nice to be able to get in and out without disturbing your partner
    -Panoramic view

    Cons:
-Harder to close the tent (possibly mitigated by the newly discovered cushion flip trick)
    -Have to carry a ladder
    -More expensive

I have Wasanesa and I recently added $20k in coverage for all my aftermarket stuff. Only cost about $200 extra a year. I have a perfect driving record and my homeowners insurance is bundled for additional savings. They required receipts for all my purchases and an inspection of the vehicle (adjuster came to my house) but other than that it was pretty painless.

@SagWagon, I had a similar experience to @nartmot . I've added about $12k and counting in aftermarket parts so far and my rates went up about $15 or so a month. I didn't even have to provide receipts or inspection. They just let me enter all new components online, then I have to approve my adjusted values. I've called to verify my coverage of parts multiple times to settle some uneasy feelings.

    GFC CLOSING Solution? 20190418_075042.jpg
    1. Take a long web strap (10' NRS strap shown) and thread it over the tube near the left pin. Buckle the strap, forming a loop.
    2. Put your foot through the loop. Using your weight, press down on the loop closing the wedge. Pin the left side.
    3. Repeat the process on the right side.
    4. Go Fast

Ha! I just ordered some motorcycle straps to help me get it down like that, but i needed that handle to get that corner down.
