Do I need a tow receiver or do I need an entire tow set up?

A lot of this where the ball goes depends on the trailer. If the ball on the bumper is to high for a trailer the trailer will be angled upwards, and the trailer will try to do the steering. The term is called castor, and just like a shopping cart set of front wheels, the castors must follow and not lead. Which means the trailer when set on the ball must be on a slight down angle to the ball, in order to follow the truck well.

Lobster has not replied to my questions. So I don't know if her 4 cylinder has any factory wiring harness, but at this point in my search I doubt it does. She obviously doesn't have the tow package installed, so I believe she will need the wiring kit installed after that purchase at a bare minimum.

 

I do not have the wiring, so I will need that as well. And as far as the ball goes, yeah, it would be too high. I may not be the most intelligent when it comes to car/truck stuff but I do know how a trailer should look attached to the back and that would put it much too high.

 

@Lobster_Taco, You would be surprised at how many males have no clue about trailing, angles, tongue weight, loading, and how a load is secured, and etc etc. If anyone here knew I expect they would have said so. There are always 25 guys willing to screw in a light bulb, but it only really takes one. At my present age I have hailed a few trailers and even lost a few trailers, but I learned the most pulling this trailer from NH to Cal and back going the long way 24,000 miles .

Looks good! Looks like we also have the same mudflaps too. But I haven't remounted mine on my high clearance yet since I need to drill into it to mount it. There's a recycling event in my area next month and I'll probably toss it there along with the rest of my stock bumper parts if no one wants my hitch soon...
