I run the SSP - sometimes I use it and sometimes I don't. Have not flashed GL yet - holding out for the 4.88 tune to see if it adjusts shifting. Usually use the s-mode and simply lock it down to nothing higher than 4, or engage SSP and let it shift at higher rpm. Either work but I sure wish 2>3, 3>4 and 4>5 shift points were 250-400 rpm higher in D mode. Still have to say the Tune is 1000 times better than stock!

@OVTune Is the EROM 2.0 patch used for or with 1.05 Performance tune?

Who has gotten better mpg with 87 performance from stock? I’m all stock tires, no lift and I get 17-18 if I baby it. About two tanks through it, 80% highway.

Interesting. Is that a Mexico build? I follow this thread closely and you are the first I've heard with that build.

For context, I have not taken the leap to OVT, stock Limited excluding custom exhaust (Magnaflow mufler, 3" cat to muffler, 2.5" muffler to tail), 90-95% city with a heavy foot. I have a lifetime average of 20 MPG.

When I run highway (75-80 mph) that trip typically runs a LOWER MPG than city driving (40-55 mph). Note: my city driving is NOT stop & go, more industrial so typical speed is 50ish, in 17 miles there are normally only 4 -6 stops, each stop >3 min (Florida has geriatric stop lights). Commute time is normally about 20-25 minutes unless one of the stops is for a train, then all bets are off.

About to pull the trigger on OVT after following this thread for the last 2.3k pages. I've got a 2018 with none of the TSB's done and am wondering - is it recommended to get the TSB's done prior to OVT? I assume the answer is "no" but wanted to get some opinions.

I understand a portion of the issues would be solved with the TSBs but if there's no difference once 1.05 is applied then I'd rather save my time and not go to the dealership...

    TSB is not required.

Only time TSB is required is on 2016 trucks with very old CAL IDs that toyota updated multiple times.

**however, if your truck experiences the exact issues the TSB does fix, it's recommended **

No you don't need to. I got them done though so they didn't write over my tune sometime down the road. I don't go to the dealership anymore so its a moot point. They've screwed up my truck too many times so they don't touch it anymore.

Awesome - thought this was the case. Thanks Mat.

Good point.. I'll probably cover my bases and make the trip. Last thing I'd want is to go backwards with the dealership overwriting the OVT...

If the dealer ever does, it is not an issue, you can just over-write it with a copy of the updated ECU IDs tune file

So lets say you're ECU is 04A60. You tune it.
You get an oil change, they update your ECU (unlikely since the dealerships seem so reluctant to) to 04A61.
    then just flash 04A61 tune

I definitely feel that anything over 65mph lowers your mpg below city driving.

it sure does. i got lots of miles to prove it. anything over 65-70 and fuel economy falls off a cliff.

p5Flash Utility update will include 3 new features (with explanations)
    - Read Live RAM > This allows to dump live data while engine is running from the ECUs RAM, allows for us to quickly add our custom code to new ECU IDs.
    - Clear All Memory > Clears All stored memory on the ECU. (vehicle will run rough during relearning)
    - Clear Learned Values > Clears learned values back to default.

    Nice!

So that should eliminate any need to disconnect the battery?

    Correct.
No disconnect battery, no need for techstream
