What did you drive before your Taco?

I had the international version. It was a fun car but leaked every type of fluid and gas it used.

You guys are so lucky! I grew up in a very poor family and never had any toys. The only toy I had was a hole in my pocket

A little bumpy and not that fast but it’s a beast off road.

 

I had a 2009 Audi A4 that also drank oil, turned out to be an open factory recall on it, despite being out of warranty, and they completely tore down the engine and rebuilt it (almost had to replace the entire engine).

Got it back from the dealer without spending a dime, then immediately sold it. I'd be upset if I had to pay for that, I think it was around $3k in work they did. Even still, I miss that car, it was so much fun to drive (as most German cars are), but damn was it a money pit...

EDIT: Drove a 1993 Geo Prizm commuter before my 2019 DCSB. Also own a 2015 Kia Soul that the wife mostly drives, which we purchased brand new after selling the Audi, mostly for the 10yr/100k powertrain warranty and because it was cheap.

 

I convinced my wife she needed a Tacoma so I could keep my ST. Great car, much better commuter than the Taco.

 

That would be a bitch to park at a grocery store, but at least you have a lot of space in that bucket for groceries

 

Yes very cheap..... Find one after the 100k warranty and you could afford to buy a few...

I didn't really need or want another 4x4 and I was going to pass the Dakota on to my youngest son. So I was just shopping for a good used truck within a set price range. Working 60 to 80 hours a week I was searching online a lot when I saw the Tacoma at a good price. The next day my wife brought it to the house so I could test drive it that night when I got home from yet another 14 hour day. The truck was certified pre-owned, super clean with 33,000 on the clock. After that test drive, I decided to buy the truck. Once I started actually driving the truck more I discovered it had a much louder ride than my Dakota. So I gutted the interior and put a two part sound deadner everywhere I could. Doing that along with putting weather stripping along the top of my windshield to stop the whistle when driving 60+ mph, have really helped the enjoyment factor of my truck. So now 7 years later the truck is still truckin' along just fine.

 

Ya, sound deadening really helped my taco, even on just the doors and rear wall. I'm glad you like your taco truck!
