Well, technically, I'm not off either day, I'm just taking off to try to get some stuff done.

We use to be off Good Friday but had to use a vaca day the day after Thanksgiving but they switched it. Took away GF and gave us the day after turkey day.

Their explanation was, new hires with no time on the books could have off. Lame!

Our county schools' spring break is Friday and Monday. Lame excuse for a spring break.

Been a TW lurker for a while, didn't realize there were these regional threads! I'm in Southern MD (Calvert Co.). My DCSBOR is still stock suspension and tires, but I've been thinking about doing some trail camping somewhere (maybe GW National Park). Any suggestions for places? I've heard people say Flagpole Knob at GW, but not sure where anything is.

Appreciate the help for a noob! I'll be watching this thread for meetups and goings on in the MD area!

Welcome, I joined a yearish ago and I'm still lurking thru the forum. :)
Got an issue though, and hopefully someone knows a little something about it. I also posted it on the main 2nd gen forum but interestingly, only got 1 reply. I was expecting more than one..I even included the sound clip. I plan on changing out the serpentine belt sometime this weekend. If that doesn't fix it, I was going to bump up the original post because I'm scared to drive it right now. Posting here local. Please check it out and thank you

Sounds to me like one of your pulleys is shot

Thanks, I'll have a chance to spin them around once I get this belt off. Hopefully that'll tell me if they are bad.

Welcome to the Kool Kidz thread! :hattip: There are a shit ton load of great people on this thread. Bunch of guys down near you too on the NoVa threads.

Right now there is a overnight wheeling trip planned for the 18th & 19th of May at Green Ridge. @AR15xAR10 is the guy setting it up. If I talk dirty to him he might go back a couple pages and post links to the threads we were all talking about it in with the maps, etc.

Bad idler pulley. It sounds like one is completely locked up and the belt is slipping on it

Thanks again guys, the plan is to go ahead and replace belt since I will need to take it off anyways, check all pulleys before hand, and replace those as needed. Appreciate all the feedback!

Doesn't sound like a belt in the video, but that could just be me listening through headphones. You'll know when you pull the belt and spin the pullies. I'd just change the belt and the idlers for good measure. Especially if it has never been done.

If you can any of them they are bad. if you cant spin them smoothly, they are going bad.

Check the accessories while you are there as well. The alternator could be shot but you would probably have a battery light on if that was the case

I was gonna say the same about the pullies. I recommend oem. I replaced mine with gates and they didn’t last but 4 months. Rocking oem now and no issues

Good to know...was doing a little research expecting to be buying pullies in the near future, but looks like OEM all the way. Gates were the others that were mentioned. There's a Fitzgerald in Gaithersburg that I will be visiting tomorrow even if I can't get belt off this evening. Thanks again everyone!

Welp. Truck is officially sold. New owner seems like he has a fleet of tacomas, so it's going to a good home. Now on to the next truck.
