Everyone relax. Remove all mud guards (front and back) and you’ll be fine. All stock here with new 265/70-17 open country’s.

Sorry for the crappy picture. Didn’t want to get my arse up!

i have OEM mud flaps and would rub about half-turn while braking or reversing. i took a heat gun and utility knife and cut out the knob on the flap. now it only rubs slightly on really aggressive turning while braking, which isn't enough to worry or bother me.

The OP seems to want to keep his mudflaps.

Also if you lift it with Bilsteins keep your stock coils, no difference in the ride compared to my neighbors Tacoma with ome springs and Bilsteins and your factory springs have settled. Save your money because Bilstein designed the 5100s to use with your factory coils.

I find that's weird, I have the same set up installed by the Toyota dealer when I bought it new and didn't rub at all even in full turn.

    Take off the front flaps

It's been said thousands of times all over TW that there will be rubbing on the front mudflaps with that size tire/wheel

Even with a lift it might still hit the flaps at full lock

You can always down size the tire to 265/65/17.

I may have to remove them. Any differences noted between brands of flaps? Some with better clearance?

I went through the same thing with some SCS Ray 10 wheels. I wanted the mud flaps but didn’t want to modify the stock suspension.

Discount Tire took my 265/70/17’s back and let me put 265/65/17’s on. Only cost me the tire price difference. Much happier with the 265/65/17’s.

If you don't want rub youll have to remove them

You could also cut them in the spots the tire is hitting

I'd wager most TW anecdotal evidence regarding rub assumes the mud flaps are removed. Perhaps not a fair assumption but none the less. Rub on the mud flaps is insignificant compared to rub on the cab mount which is usually the focus of "will it rub" discussions at least as far as I see it.

I have the same set up except with Duratrac's and am also thinking about leveling out the front. From what I've found, setting the 5100's on the 3rd perch will lift the front about 1.1"-1.25"s (stock coils). That should level out the truck without needing to add an AAL or block in the rear.

It's the flaps. I just lifted my truck 2-2.5" (Bilstein 6112...) then added a slightly larger tire than you have 275/70/17 KO2's on SEMAs. No rubbing at that point. Then, I installed Rekgen flaps and now I have rubbing.

These flaps have a very flat profile in the fender (I've been wondering myself if a more contoured flap might have more clearance in the fender) so I may live with it because the rubbing is almost not noticeable. Passengers never know. This could actually be due to the fact that the flaps are so smooth/flat so there is no edge for tread block to catch on. No card in the spokes sound.

Here's a before flap and after flap rubbing pics.
