Ok so I was driving down the road today and passed a lifted 3rd gen at a nissan dealership. I whipped it around just to take a little look see at what all was going on with this thing. First of all I saw it was a 2wd and was riding on 305/70/16 nitto mud grapplers on the stock 16x7 offroad wheels. Just looked at the specs on the tire from nitto and the rim width range for that size is 8”-9.5”. There was maybe a mm or so between the tire and uca. It also had a coil spacer puck lift up front. As soon as I started back to my 3rd gen(can see it in the pics) a tubby salesman came running over. He was trying his best to get me out of mine and into this one. I said brother this is my truck right here (pointed at my truck) and tried to explain that I was not interested, my truck had many more features and lower mileage lol thanks for your time. Five minutes later this guy is standing at my window of my truck as im trying to pull out, still trying to convince me. It just blows my mind how persistent people can be after you have pretty much told them to walk. Just thought Id share. -Nick

And the best part is the buyer had better get warranty guarantees in writing from the dealer or he/she is fucked with a rusty cactus.

Nice truck. Car salesmen can be parasites. Some can be pretty cool. I usually just tell them I have to appear in court next week for murder. Please leave me alone.

There was one locally here, it was red. Right before I bought my new one. I was in the market and it looked really nice. I started looking at it online and it was the same type thing you were describing, junk lift and tires that weren't right, they wanted 10k more than new with 30000 miles on it. I didn't have the pushy salesman but I didn't talk to them.

Rarely is the passive salesman the bread winner for the dealership, or his family.

To those outside the sales world it would seem counterintuitive, but frequently the sales guy with the highest cancellation rate is your #1 guy.

You don't have to like it, but is what it is.

Complicated people often require complex negotiation style and knowledge of the inside jargon is very effective. A litter known phrase for this exact situation is, “fuck off”. Works every time.

Desperate for money. Those guys live off commissions basically so they'll do anything to get you to buy, including unethical tactics. This guy picked the wrong approach here but none the less that was his motive.

Is a bad system and unsurprisingly results in a ton of bad experiences. Maybe one day it'll improve but could be awhile as the "dealership system" has rooted themselves firmly at a political level. It's no coincidence that you literally can't circumvent dealerships when buying a new car.

That would be fun to try . Go over to someone kicking tires on a lot and pretend you're a salesman for the place and just start pestering them and saying really stupid stuff.
