I'm no turkey hunting fanatic.
What I can tell you is that an old Tom can be pretty tough.

Turkeys are really stupid.
But they're spooky and suspicious as all Hell.
With incredible eyesight.

That’s one of the advantages of living in SoCal/San Diego. No yard to take care of. Well... maybe it’s not an advantage since the reason we have no yard to speak of is that RE is so expensive here.

 

Yup. My yard is totally hopeless. Gophers have moved in and are leaving holes everywhere. And the weeds are taking over the rest. I don't have the energy I once did.

 

I know all about their eyesight. I once had a turkey see me fart.

 

Dandelions and onions over here.

 

Eh, lay some landscape fabric, then cover it with multi-colored rock in various designs. No mowing or weeding. It's not my yard nor my neighborhood, so I encourage you to be as uniquely insulting as possible.

This is the time of year that every other morning a Jake or Jenny will land in the yard at sunrise.
Inexperienced first year birds.
Somebody busts 'em off their roost and they fly downhill.

And then they run up and down my wood privacy fence.
Now that's stupid.

 

I see em down the road from me on my way home from work. There is usually a tom or two all blowed up in the field.

 

Dandelions...my favorite flower.
No effort required.

 

They are nature's beautiful addition to the yard.
