So wifes been working in a stained glass shop for a few weeks now and lately her heart rates been wonky, tachy at times and over all odd. Today she was like, we use lead solder...you think it could be lead poisoning? So we are gonna get her checked out. They don't wear respirators or have any down draft or fume hoods. So all that crap goes everywhere, and she's been bringing it home on her clothes so now we have to watch the cats for anything odd.

Ready to cut out. Day shifts gonna be gone again tomorrow so I'm gonna come in early and knock out my extra 4 hours instead of staying till 3 am.

Dang that’s not good. Can’t believe there getting away without having a lead hygiene program. I have to get a blood draw every 6 months to monitor lead levels. You need to get her out of that job.

 

That's what I told her! I said if that test comes back with any sort of elevated levels you're finding a different job. It's definitely not worth minimum wage. Don't understand why they don't use Lead Free solder, works the same.

 

Could get her a Papr forced air respirator with the right filters if she chooses to stay there. But they should provide this type of gear.

 

Half tempted to call the OSHA tip line.

 

I would, no telling how many people they have put in harms way. Lead poisoning gets into you bones and the older you are the harder it is to get rid of. Can take medicines for it but it takes forever to get rid of.

 

Bought a new thermometer tonight.
