We used the bottle jack method along with a heat gun and a ratchet strap to prevent the arms from spreading.

Best wishes on your cam bolts. I had assumed mine were in good shape too since getting an alignment was not an issue. But that was not the case. Then a scramble ensued, trying to round up the necessary parts and pieces on a weekend.

Just ordered the Whitelines! Going to install in a few weeks.

    I’m praying they aren’t seized.

After procrastinating this job all winter I finally caved and ordered the whiteline kit.

Have people had luck using a ball joint press to remove the old bushings? The factory bottle jack?

My factory bottle jack was trash. I just bought a new cheap one. A few came out easy and some needed air chisel persuasion. I recommend using a torch instead of air chisel but I didn't have one.

Used the bottle jack method, not the factory one but I’m sure it would work fine.

Once I got some tension on the bushing, I began to heat it up with a little propane torch (plumbing type) and the bushing started to creep on out. A couple popped/flew out, the others came out less dramatically.

Used a vise to press in the Whiteline bushings. I highly recommend the videos by @Timmah! for entertainment and information.

Yeah I feel I put WAY too much pressure using the bottle jack. A little heat would have been kinder to my LCAs

When you say "heat gun" like one of those electric blow dryer deals? How long did it take for the bushing to start moving. I guess heat is heat... doesn't matter much where it comes from.

I saw that @Digiratus posted about using a "heat gun" in the thread, maybe he can confirm what type of heat gun he used. I would totally try a heat gun next time I have to remove some bushings.

Think industrial version of a blow dryer your hair stylist might use. Something like this.

You apply tension to the bushing with the jack then start applying heat. It took a few minutes for the heat to work but eventually it did. The bushing started to move slowly, it was not an explosive release.

So I’ve done searches with no success . But has anyone purchased oem bushing for the steering rack. I was able find one of the three on camelback Toyota. That one was the u shaped bushing on the clamp. I know energy suspension makes a kit I typically prefer oem

Got the Whitelines installed last weekend.

Bottle jack and Mapp gas torch to get the old ones out.

Pressed in the Whitelines with a balljoint press.

The cam bolts weren’t seized. Everything went really smooth. Not a squeak as of yet. My steering is much tighter, but...

I also installed SPC UCAs and replaced inner/ outer tie rods, LBJs, steering rack bushings, sway bar endlinks and sway bar bushings.

Thanks everyone for all the great info! Without this site I would never have got this stuff done.

Very well done. Glad the heat was a good touch. Wish I had heat when I did mine.

Thanks! The heat helped em’ pop right out. One bushing shot into my driveway. The others were less dramatic.

Damn, just now noticed this thread after ordering some Energy Suspension bushings. Can't wait to get rid of the squeaks after doing a long-ass road trip with them

Since doing this "mod" to the LCA bushing washers, have you had any slipping problems?

I have not had any issues. Not saying that the “mod” worked though, may not have slipped without the dimples anyway.

I figured that much, thought i'd ask though. Looks like you just used a center punch to make all the marks?

Just ordered the whitelines off Amazon. Not back in stock until the 7th though :/

I've been sitting on a set of the ES UCA and LCA bushings, but really don't wanna go to the hassle of burning out the rubber and trying to re-use the oem washers and hardware.

I'll sell them to someone for cheap since I don't have a use for them anymore.

Correct. Went at a slight angle to make the ridge more pronounced.

I bought some used LCA's from a member on here; it took what...15 minutes to remove the current bushings?

I used the stock bottle jack.
