I am looking forward to the results.

I should probably add the wiring harness (and I'm sure I will) but at the moment, I have a lot on my plate getting ready for my trip west in May.

ARE Z-series shell, ImMrYo mirror lift, always on fog-lights.
Looking around it looks like the 85/80 All seasons are no longer being produced. Is this correct and if so what would be a suitable replacement for that bulb? I am looking to get the new wiring harness as well.

    There are 3 here:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/OSRAM-6420.../80w&qid=1555509285&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull

    And 1 here:
    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/132948719252

I don’t think anything will match a high wattage, high efficiency bulb, but I will test to have a data backed answer as to what the next best thing is.

The Supers are a slightly lower wattage 75/70w +30 high efficiency bulb:

Finally was dark enough to get a decent pic of my new osram bulbs. Beam intensity on low is so impressive. It makes streetlights look like 12w glowsticks. Thanks @crashnburn80 20190417_214611.jpg

Wow, that is impressive for low beam. They are the P43t Allseason bulbs?

Op- just ordered the recommended harness and am looking for bulbs... I am one of those running hid s in the stock reflectors and am sick of the pricey hard to get bulbs and components( not to mention the scatter and other problems mentioned). My question is if you've come across another supplier for the osram hyper or all season 85/80s as they are not available at the moment. Any other bulbs that are similar and last as long?

Yeah definitely get those HIDs out of there. You will have better output, beam control and distance projection with a proper upgrade. I PMed you a couple purchase locations that had a few All Season bulbs remaining.

I checked Amazon UK earlier and they only showed one left in stock. Once they are back in stock I will probably pick up a pair to replace my Philips +130. I'm looking forward to your test to see how these different bulbs stack up against each other.

Haven't visited this thread in a while. Was about to order the Phillips 65w H9 for low beams and trim the tab. Has the recommendation changed??

Wrong thread, this is 2nd Gen. :)

But yes, the Philips 65w H9s are the 3rd Gen recommended bulb. The Philips actually pull over 74w.

The Osram 85/80w bulbs are no longer produced. They are unlikely to be restocked, unless their supplier still has some.

The upcoming tests should really be interesting to provide data backed recommendations for best bulbs.

Oh, I thought it was just the 85/80w Bilux Super Bright bulbs that had been discontinued. I didn't realize the 85/80w Allseason bulbs were discontinued as well. Oh well, I'll wait for your test to see what the best bang for the buck is.

+1. For reasons that escape me, Osram seems to kill their best offerings.

Word has it from inside sources, these were never meant to be mainstream products. Consider them Skunkworks level products that were somehow allowed out to the consumer base.
