After our little fiasco I went ahead and bought a seal puller. It works great! My axle puller is still the impromptu slide hammer. So far, your axle has been the biggest pain in the ass to date. Luckily none have fought me as much as yours.

 

Since you're all up/active here. I have the opportunity to buy a color matched cap for likely $1300. A Leer 100 XL. It does have the removable front window but that's all I know. Oh, dog screens. And a stone chip in the front.

So, more importantly, what it doesn't have that I really want is

Mid rise height for the added room!!!
Roof tracks factory installed/warranted!!!
Windoors!!!
Sliding front window.
Headliner (I would think that's there, but......)

So yes, $1100 less but some serious compromises.

What say ye?

Edit - I should add, it's 4 hours south in Virginia and I'd need help lifting it off the trailer onto the truck.

 

Well it's nice to know I can still top lists, even if they are for the wrong reasons.

 

If it's missing that many features that you want I'd just wait for the right topper to come along.

 

If it’s missing that many things you want and it’s that far away, I vote wait and save your pennies for exactly what you want.

Windoors are just practical and if I ever plan on sleeping back there that cab high will suck being my size.

 

Exactly. Sleeping in the bed in a regular height cap on a platform feels like you’re in a coffin. And windoors are extremely useful, especially on a long bed. You’ll be happy you waited.

A little diff oil to top off what comes out when you remove the CV. I still wanna try leaning the truck towards passenger side to see if it’ll keep it from leaking.

In all honesty though B I was hoping I could reach into the still sane parts of Randall who use to be more level headed and apparently I successfully did that.

Of course though, right after that he started talking about turning a Tacoma onto its side to save 3 tbsp of gear oil so I fear I reached in too far.

This trick does work. I do it all the time on cars at work. Just haven't tried it on a Tacoma yet
