I really think he's going to want to get a ride in a 1st gen to have any chance of a fair comparison.

Were you running the AllPro Expos, or standard AllPro rear leafs? Any particular reason you went to the OME rear leafs? Icons or other performance coilovers aren't happening for me at this time.

I have access to about 1000 acres of typical range land that I survey. It is about 45 minutes from C-470 / I-25, maybe a bit less. I can't really organize a TW day-in-the-dirt rally... but if a couple / few guys were able to come out and let me compare / contrast... I think I can justify that I was on a recon / scouting trip for GPS basesite locations... ;)

That's a good point. But a 2nd gen with the lighter (softer) OME front coils with rear AllPro Expos might be a decent comparison point if nothing else is available. At this point, I'm pretty sure I want OME front (882's) with the AllPro Expo / Fox 2.0 rear unless someone starts waving a huge redflag. I'm open to going Alcan's if I can make $$ work.

Squeaky... if your choice was: Allpro Expo with Fox 2.0 rear shocks --OR-- Alcan custom rear leaf with Bilstein 5125s (and Foxes would have to come later), which would you choose? What if Allpro Expos with Fox 2.0 rear shocks could be had with LR UCA's up front... but getting into Alcan's meant 5125s and no LR UCA's... which would you choose? Thx.

Was running Expos. Originally switched due spring pack failure twice, Allpro covered them under warranty but better have a second vehicle as I waited 5 weeks for the first warranty replacement and 2 for the second (customer service leaves alot to be desired). And now I won't switch do to ride quality being better all around compared to the Expos.

So, I understand that your experience has been tha tthe Dakars ride better compared to the Expos you had? How much weight were you carrying in the back with the Expos? How much weight with the Dakars? How much lift were you seeing with both setups?

And, lastly... how long ago were you having problems with the Expos? 5-10 years ago is one thing... 6mos to a year ago is notsogood. Since this is for work... reliability / durability is kinda sorta important for me. Hmmmm....

Anyone else have issues with reliability / durability of AllPro rear leaf springs, particularly Expos?

Was running the same set up I'm currently running (450 to 550 typically) I switched to my current set up late November last year. Honestly never measured stock vs expo vs dakar height.

This is the truck with the bed empty if this gives you an idea of lift.
I bought the Expos originally in early 2017 and had 2 warranty claims between then and now.

I'm not trying to hate on Allpro (have their rack, rear bumper and sliders) just had bad luck with their leaf pack and the wait period for warranty replacements.

Waited all winter to work on the Tacoma because I was trying to get the other truck wrapped up. I have a lot to do for this summer. I dropped my wheels and tires off to have the old Nittos swapped for the Trepadors as motivation to get things rolling again

I would get whatever one would allow you to get UCAs. 882s with no weight up front will be quite a bit of lift, and you'll probably not be able to get any positive caster.

I would still see how shipping is on the expos, as leafs aren't cheap to ship. It may not cost you any more money to go with some Alcans assuming you can pick them up at some point.

Iron, can you describe the failures you experienced? Was it the same thing both times?

Did you do a lot / much / any of towing with the truck? When the problems or issues occurred... were you able to continue driving? Or was it a stop, park the vehicle, get it towed... do NOT pass GO / do NOT collect $200?

Both times it was the same issue, one leaf would settle/sag almost 1.5" lower than the other side. Found my self shifting 80% of my loads to the opposite side just to balance it out.
Edit: 1.5" sag was with bed unloaded, with gear loaded it was worse.

This sounds like a quality control/manufacturing issue and not a critical/safety/breaking issue that @steve2267 is most concerned about.
Related to this, but coincidentally, I watched this video yesterday.

Major safety issue with 500+ in the bed and the load decides to shift due to one side compressing further that the other suddenly. Takes the truck and throws it into the other lane.

They city has been redoing cracked sidewalks. The new, level sidewalk is about 3" higher than the base of my driveway and the supervisor came around to say that they were going to repour the slab of my driveway so it matches :D
