Are you on 04A70 or 04A71? I felt that the TSB tune lessened rev hang enough that it was acceptable for me?

Are you talking about making an extension on the pedal for it to be the full, classic height or a machined block to space it further back from the firewall? If the second, I might have an idea.

70, I'll download techstream over the weekend and try updating. and I was thinking a machined block to space the pedal for 3/4-1" from the firewall. I have a size 11 shoe and I can't get to the throttle pedal from the brake. Not sure if its just me.

Just follow the cautions in the MT Software Update thread OP as best that you can.

Of course, I'm just one person, but I could not get a good WOT shift near redline pre-TSB. Now, it is natural:

Those are on the TSB tune. I have been wanting to try again on OVT, but . . .

I never really got the hang of heel / toe, but level pedals would be nice. I pinged someone who might be able to pull it off.

Some say he snacks on metal shavings for brunch.

That looks much better. Will definitely be updating, thanks! My experience with braking and blipping downshifts comes from motorcycles but if someone builds a spacer, I will have my money ready.

EDIT: looks like you are also from the motorcycle world, nice!

Whoa! I said 'lessened.' For me (just a single person), the TSB tune greatly improved shifting, part of that feels like a decrease in rev hang. For the full details take a peek at about the middle of the Update thread.

yeah thats definitely less rev hang, not gone. But it looks much more natural. The revs below 3K on OVT **A70 drop quickly, if its possible, thats what I would like to see up high too.

They didn't for 04B13, it's still quite annoying to me.

One final question on engine braking for @OVTune , or folks that have logged like @MOC221_ . What is the VVTi state when coasting? If they are set to Atkinson (FOB still has some), could the open valves be killing some engine braking? Would it be worth a shot to try going FOB when in DFCO?

    Thanks!

so, just installed 04B40 - 87 - Base on my '19 OR. I had traded in my AT for an MT in December but since it was a manual, it drove for the most part how i wanted it to. Couldnt stand the AT, even with OVTune. Big improvements but still a big nope. Got around to installing the tune today and should not have waited so long.

I have tried to read back through the entire thread but after an hour, its just unproductive. What is the FOB tune over the base or performance? What can I expect with that tune? Not seeing where that is posted on OVT site or here.

Accumulator delete. What should I expect? Besides a 'do it!' reply...

    Thanks!

Accumulator delete: expect consistent engage and release point. None of the jerkiness from suddenly releasing the clutch too fast.
FOB: Full Otto version B. It's the performance tune for the MT.

It was a long slog for the MT folks.

    The tunes are explained here:
    https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news/ovtune-tacoma-flash-manager-overhaul
    Scroll down just a bit.

Performance is AT only. Base retains the simulated Atkinson cycle but is a major leap over the stock tune. FOB retains just a bit of the Atkinson cycle, but is mostly Full Otto cycle with a healthy dose of torque right at idle. @OVTune created the FOB tune mainly for Tacos with lots of armor and larger tires (the fat kid tune). It is great on stock Tacos also.

    :burnrubber:

The best thing that you can do is test them for yourself. Get at least two full tanks in before you re-flash. I did 87 FOB, 91 FOB with 92 octane, and am now on 87 Base. I think I'm a base man?

For the ADM, the 1st Post kind of gets you there:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mt-accumulator-delete-mod-adm-and-bs-thread.568303/

But in general, it gives a bit more throw, the release stroke now follows your foot with no delay, and there is no goofiness if you need to modulate the clutch.

OV Tuned, S&B Intake, MBRP Dual black Cat-back, accumulator delete, URD SS, 2LM, SSO Hybrid bumper/Warn 10kSynthetic, Custom Car Grille, MESO Ultimate Turn Signal in KTJO Power Folding Mirrors, Genesis Dual Battery, BHLM with LED upgrade, Fog delete, Geko Bed & Underhood lighting, Rear camera anytime, Nav Block Override, 400W anytime w/ interior outlets, USB charging stations, DE-badged, TVD blackout kit, HiLux interior door handles, Hybrid SS/Delrin Shift Knob, Cali-Raised bed Stiffeners, Ultimate Tailgate Seal, "El Dorado" Dual-quad horns, Diamondback HD cover, Mobtown engine/trans skid plates, RCI control arm skids, JLT oil catch can, Meso overhead Hex rack.
FOB would be analogous to "performance" tune in the AT. I prefer the 87 FOB. It's the least expensive fuel ,and all the power I need for everyday and a bit of hauling now and then. It's pretty flat here, but I am holding High 22's and low 23's for tank averages at the moment.
Accumulator delete will give you consistent engage and disengage points in the pedal travel. no more of the sense of the clutch still slipping even after your foot is off the pedal, or waiting a beat for the clutch to fully release even after you have the pedal on the floor.

The ADM sounds awesome. This would get rid of the sudden repetitive jerking i get when i try to shift like ive shifted thousands of times before but end up looking like its the first time Ive drove a MT? Doesnt happen often, but when it does, it happens in front of everyone.

The FOB tune sounds awesome too. Was just trying to make sure it wasnt something special.

Been babying the truck lately. Working from home and not much driving except to drop off the kid in light traffic, getting 20mpg. Just like in the AT, OVT makes me want to actually drive this thing. Hit 6k in second and im still grinning. might of peed a little.

    Thanks again TW.
Also, Matt... you are the best.

Yup. ADM equals leveling up in MT skills.

Just in case, the MT tunes all include a 6,800rpm rev limit. :headbang:

Another cheap mod you can do is to take the H9 German Philips high beam bulb, trim the tab in the middle, and put it in low beam. It will improve your night time vision. Make sure to replace the high beam bulb with something like Hella H9.

I'm still on the 91BFO test file after trying 87FOB and 91FOB.
I have some issues with stuttering (that's the ginger for ya), but 91BFO returns better fuel economy than 91FOB in my case.

I just went to 1.05 87 base a bit ago. going to run that for a bit after quite a bit of FOB and a tank and a half on 04b13.
