Toyota needs to get on this.

everything is artist renditions and magazine guesstimations right now so i wouldn't be hung up on how it looks or concern myself with if it is a hybrid or not... i'm sure the first time we see what the actual car looks like will be in some cheesy hollywood action film by Michael Bay

one of the things i heard a long time ago about the new supra is that it was going to be considerably smaller than the old one... i'm curious to see how small it is... i'm thinking maybe rx-8?

 

This might be more like what it would look like if and when Toyota ever decides to produce one. I have heard for years that they were working on something but nothing yet.

I would not be surprised if Lexus was the one to produce something like this in a two door.

Ah, stole my story! Yep, Toyota wasn't happy that Honda was taking the lion's share of the early to late 20- something demographic, and decided to invent Scion... which didn't become the success they hoped for. Unfortunately, the young generation sees Toyota cars as conservative instead of sporty. Who can blame them (er, I guess it's an 'us' since I'm in the category)? The sporty cars come across as a yawn or somehow become valley girl. I drove an '08 Camry and I nearly fell asleep at the wheel when I stood on the pedal. I liked the Corolla when they were first introducing the newest generation 4 or 5 years ago, but I'd have to wear a bleached blonde wig and join a sorority (among other things).


I also have a sob story:

About a year ago, my mom gets an email from my cousin about how the old lady across the street is selling a car and I NEED to come see it (of course the email has been sitting in Mom's inbox for about a week). We call up my cousin, and it turns out the lady had to go into the hospital for a busted hip. He has the keys, though, so we can still look at least.

Dad and I go over. As the garage goes up, our jaws go down. It's a black 3rd gen Supra T-Top, manual, non-turbo. 26k miles. There's a small dent on the front bumper (she apparently smacked the garage when parking), but otherwise perfect. Cousin says, "yep, she knows it's an older car so she's hoping that she can get $3000 from it. It's her dead husband's."

Since she's in the hospital, we can't do anything because we can't get at the title. Next of kin is the son-in-law 200 miles away, so we contact him. He grumbles about coming up, but agrees to come up on a Saturday (note that his mother in law is still in the hospital and things are looking bad - doesn't sound like he was intending to visit). Sounds like he isn't really interested in anything related to the estate, just as long as we have a solid means of paying.

We give him a call on Saturday, and lo and behold, how emotions change! The son-in-law starts choking up and says, "I'm sorry, I don't think I can part with this car. It's my dead father-in-law's, and he meant so much to me, and this car reminds me so much of him. It's not a matter of price, I just can't part with it."

Bullshit. He didn't even know what car he was selling to us, and I bet he didn't even see his mother-in-law who's suffering in the hospital. Bah, mom needs to open her email sooner, old ladies need to watch their step, and son-in-laws can really suck it sometimes.
