That's true. Luckily, in 27 years of hunting there, the few people I've came in contact with have been great. Missouri, not so much. I'm gonna check on it though. Pretty good excuse to buy a hammerless Smith.

    Hoo Wee!
Yeah, it can be a huge deal.

I have a PA carry permit.
And SFAIK PA honors all carry permits from other states.
But I don't dare have a loaded gun on my person or in the vehicle when I go into Maryland.

Hell, in PA you don't even need a permit if you open carry.
You just can't be a felon or have a restraining order on you.
Though it's always possible a Barney Fife type small town cop may hassle you, since he doesn't know about open carry.
True fact. I have retired state trooper friends at the club who tell me stuff. :p
And it's hardly ever done anyway. Open carry I mean.
    But there you are.

    Maryland is the opposite.
None of that reciprocity jazz for them.

Yeah, Maryland isn’t too pewpew friendly. I remember reading an article about their plate readers tagging a driver with a FL CCW and the cops pulling him over and asking where his gun was. Fortunately he left it in FL but that didn’t stop them from searching his vehicle

    No shit.
    I rest my case.

I live in rural/ small town America. True for both sides of the border here.
So it's not a big concern to me.
I hardly ever carry, but I feel I should have the right to.

I live in a town of about 45k and work in a town of about 25k. Between the two there seems to be a shooting or stabbing at least once a week. I personally carry about 95 percent of the time.

We’re in the middle of a main drug trafficking route. We sit between Chicago, Peoria Illinois and St. Louis,K.C. Missouri. When you read the local arrest column in the paper most of the people are from those areas.

If I lived where you do, no doubt I'd carry as well.

Hagerstown, MD is the nearest city. And it's not all that big.
And the newspaper has the usual stories about crimes and arrests.
Most of the time the perps are from Baltimore.
    Drug crimes, drug murders.
But it seems to me their violent crimes are confined mostly to themselves.
Haven't yet reached critical mass and spilled over.

Which leaves the drug crimes. That's worrying.
Worrying that so many people have so lost hope as to be customers of those scum.

I live halfway between Memphis and St. Louis. They both suck.
