Good wax for scratches??

Wheel the truck pretty hard. Have a ton of scratches. From light to deep. I know they aren't coming out without a buff but want to get a good wax on it soon. What are the best products for this?

Sounds like you’ll want to cut with compound if deep and then polish and wax or seal. Seal will last longer but wax is shinier

 

Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 is a quick and easy scratch filler product that works well. I wax a good portion of my truck in it before waxing with an actual wax. It certainly isn’t to the level of cutting down the clearcoat, but I can hide some pretty good scratches for a while with it and a coat of wax. Obviously the results are temporary.

I've used Scratch X 2.0 as well and it removes (or perhaps hides) the small defects pretty well. It's not gonna take care of the stuff that will catch your fingernail though.

Also getting the right abrasive ness on your buffer pads, as well as technique are critical if you’re going for perfection.

Watch the Junkman's videos as suggested above. For light scratches I use Meguiars 205. For deep scratches I use Meguiars 105. Then follow with your preferred wax or sealant. Don't forget to clay the scratches first.

What if you don't care about visually removing the scratch so much as just wanting to fill it in or cover it up so that the paint underneath is still protected? I'm not a big fan of removing clear coat with polishing to make the clear coat even with the scratch. While that might improve things cosmetically, it seems to me to be going backwards with respect to protecting the paint. If the paint is going to be repeatedly exposed to branches, worrying about cosmetics with repeated rounds of polishing would only end up shortening the lifespan of the paint.

 

Then you want a product that is a "glaze" which is generally applied by machine.

But like the word "wax", "glaze" can be used when it's not a glaze. Just make sure the product mention it uses "fillers".
