2005 - 2023 Archive Garage Premium Shackle Flip Lift Kit

The most weight I would be carrying is the occasional dirtbike and maybe a camper shell for overnight trips, so I'm not too concerned with weight capacity. More concerned with travel and droop of the leaf pack, and minimizing the static lift in the back.

 

So I don’t know if I should go hammers or flip. Double cab long bed w Dakar’s and b110s. I have a lot of weight in rear w rtt fridge drawers. I’m getting rear airbags as well. I’m looking for more travel

 

With weight, definitely Hammer hangers

 

Will I get as much droop as the shackle flip or no?

 

Probably, they have about same droop.
Dakars work well with HH

 

Can someone pitch in what to expect with this mod ? I’m planing on running deaver sua with 12” kings. 3rd gen Tacoma running on heavy side.

 

What are you looking for that the product description isn't telling you? This is pulled directly from the product page on Archive's website. Tells you exactly what to expect.

EDIT: I completely glossed over the fact that this is the flip thread and not the hanger thread. The quoted description is for the Hammer Hangers. Coincidentally, they are better for heavy loads, so it's applicable. Check those out instead.

 

Product descriptions usually are overhyped and advertised but real world often shows different results. I was more interested in getting comments from guys that done this upgrade than what manufacturer advertised

Would bad ass suspenssion qualify as an answers ? Lol I want stability good plush ride and reliability over a stock set up.

 

Just IMO but you need to really think about what your goals, desired outcome, current setup, future setup, and budget are.

Badass suspension for what? Overlanding? Speed and soaking up bumps and whoops? Slow meticulous rock crawling?

The answer of good plush ride, reliable, and stability is too vague and can be interpreted in so many different ways depending on what you're using them like what I said above. My first thought when reading that response is, "oem Kings without adjusters or bp-51s paired with deavers or dakars depending on weight, hammer hangers, and superbumps"

But I feel like that's not what you have in mind.

 

Fair point. I have pb51 with ome hd leaf and Camburg uca and it feels very limited on travel and flex. Stiff as a board as well and yes I played with adjusting them. I guess I’m looking for a magic happy middle so if all but realize that’s just not possible. I don’t think i will do much if crawling over crazy rocks maybe 5 out of 10 level wise if I ever would. Ca is filled with wash out and fire roads etc so ability to go quick not fast is fun proposition but st the same time I am set up more like overland builds with habitat skids bumpers rack winch and so on. There are as many opinions as there are builders seems like. I was hoping to hear did someone that perhaps gone one route and realized it was a mistake like is there an absolute no no when it comes to setting up the truck with things I’ve meantioned above. One says more flex is what you want so hammers and 12” shocks and sua all day long and another says no bad idea because you have weight and habitat is top heavy you don’t want too much flex etc etc. how do I know which advice is accurate

 

If that was a typo^ and you are saying you have BP51 shocks, that is part of your problem. The BP51 shocks may be good at staying cool but it’s only within a very small suspension stroke range. The BP51 are some of the SHORTEST shocks on the market for the rear of our trucks. Your travel is significantly limited in the rear by them. Just FYI

 

and that's why i'm going with LT set up instead. Just looking at them it's easy to tell there isn't much room for suspension to "breathe"

good info. Truck came with the shocks so I had no choice, shame they only got 5K miles on them brand new kit. Well it's going up for sale than lol

 

Not a shame at all. Sell them to an overlander who doesn’t care about or need “travel” - make some good money & throw some $200 Bilstein b110’s in there and all the rest of the supporting bits.

 

I ran the shackle flip for about 1.5yrs on stock spring and Icon shocks. The shackle flip smoothed out the ride both on and off road, it allowed the rear to use the full range of the shock.
Since then i've gone SUA with Deavers U644/645 (light version) with Fox 14" shocks, it's a night and day difference and don't regret anything. Truck feels more planted when off road at speed but still a good DD on the street's. Note: The only weight in my bed is the Softtopper = 30lbs and that 95% percent of time. The other 5% it's loaded up with Camping gear and/or 2 Dirt bikes.
But with the weight's your talking about carrying around on a daily i would go Deaver U539/540 (heavier loads) and the Hammer Hangers. From what it i've seen and read the Hammer Hanger will really handle the heavier load you'll have but also allows you to use the full range of you King 12".

Incredibly stupid question:

What's the difference between the shackle flip kit and the hammer hangers? Is one for the front and the other for the rears? Can you run both? I'm looking at slowly piecing together a suspension setup this year (looking at ADS for coilovers/rear shocks and Icon leafs). I added bigger tires (tall, skinny, heavy) and an ARB bumper/winch. Now I really hate how the truck rides. I run dirtbikes in the back, but really don't have much extra weight in the back all the time.
