Yeah, I'm going to order a set of ProDesigned wrist guards. Figure they're worth the investment considering how much surgery cost.

 

Try a year of minimum duty when you are self employed. My little fall has cost me that and then some.

 

Yeah, that sucks and I'm sorry to hear it.

Skateboarding as an adult vs. a punk kid definitely has major differences as far as consequences go.

Although I had to quit my job at a restaurant in high school when I broke one of my feet. Open walking cast was a no-go in the kitchen.

 

I’ll be back in SoCal tomorrow(Saturday,20th)at 11 pm.Didn’t get a chance to skate in TX or GA due to wind conditions and thunderstorms.

 

Made it back in for a quick stop to”Stratosphere Skateboards”(Atlanta,GA.)to see Thomas Taylor.He remembered me from stopping into the shop this past November.He hooked me up with a team/shop deck.

@orezona his son Grant Taylor is in the last Thrasher video with Jeff Phelps and from what Thomas mentioned Grant and Jeff were quite the road skate dogs together.Apparently Thomas and others were seeing signs unfortunately of “Phelpers” decline.R.I.P.

Grant Taylor is one of my favorite young guns skaters these days!

I still haven't heard the full official report about the circumstances with Jake, but I guess that doesn't matter much since he's still gone, which is a loss for all of us regardless how you may or may not have felt about him.

I never met him but definitely had an affect on me in my 30 years skating.

 

Scored tickets to see Excel in May. Haven't seen these guys since the Welcome to Venice tour in I think 1985? Good times!

 

I just recently this past yr have been watching video footage of Grant.Been well aware of his dad’s 80’s pro days although we all know he didn’t achieve the spotlight like other legends we all know of.

I met Jake several yr’s back at the “Basic Bowl” which was in the housing track that my mom lived in at the time(1990’s).It was just a quick hello and that was it.I also haven’t heard the final circumstances of Jake.We all may never find out the truthful facts.Surely losing Jake is a downer,R.I.P.!

Also while i was a Stratosphere Skateboards Thomas slipped this video into my goods.Didn’t realize it until lastnight unpacking from the trip to TX and GA.Watched the video lastnight and it’s hilariously good with the 70/80’s music and 80’s movie footage clips.

I LOVE this graphic and I think I'm going to be forced to get it...

 

I saw it in the theater and LOVED it. I'm going to be 41 in 3 weeks.

Jonah Hill could have pulled several of those scenes straight from my own experiences. We did a lot of dumb shit when I was 14-18 but goddamn it was a lot of fun back in that time.

One of the things I liked the most is the soundtrack was on POINT. I still listen to a lot of that shit today (Wu-Tang is for the children!).

I saw it at the local Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Tempe, AZ and they played Rodney Mullen's part from Virtual Reality before the movie started, along with some original fingerboard commercials which were hilariously cringe worthy from the same time period.

Brought back a lot of memories and your post reminded me that I need to pick up a copy for my library at home...!

Well i’ve set up the “Stratosphere Skateboards” deck/board.Used Jessip /MobGrip grip tape with Stratosphere sticker.Independent trucks 159’s(standard polished).Independent 1/4 inch risers and 1 1/4 hardware.I might change out the risers to 1/8 inch.

Supposed to see Jim Gray this week to get some POWERFLEX wheels.I’m going to go with either 58 or 60 mm “Gumballs”.Already have the Bones”Reds”bearing’s for install.

 

That's a significant graphic/deck for Hensley.

It was his last one before leaving with Mike Ternasky to help for Plan B Skateboards. It was also the first of Matt's boards to have the "double kick" which evolved into the modern popsicle stick shape.

I specifically remember that one because I wanted it really bad but the shop in my home town never got it. The originals are worth bank and are really hard to find.

 

Met up with Jim Gray yesterday to get my POWERFLEX “Gumballs” Wheels from the source and then a curb session lastnight.
