Should I trade my 2010 yota for an STI?

So here's the deal...I found a black 2006 stock STI with only 8800 miles on it. I asked the dude if he wanted to trade for my 2010 TRD Offroad Access cab with 12000 miles and he said yes. Of course, I would have to ask for some extra cash since my truck is worth more...but what do you guys think about trading for the STI? I figured I won't be using my truck that much the next 4-5 years because I'm going to be in school...so why not have fun with a beastly car and then buy a yota and pimp the shit out of it when I get my degree?

    That's exactly my plan.

OP totally your call man. I'm a couple years out of school and when I was in the market for something new a couple months ago I started doing my research on those STi's. I even almost went to test drive one, but then I pictured myself trying to move my 50" or pull a trailer. So that's how I got my Tacoma. Maybe in the future I'll get an opportunity to own an STi as well...they are pretty sweet.

I traded in my last 06 Taco TRD off road for my current 08 STI and then missed my Taco so I bought another one. So I can enjoy both worlds. Why not go to a dealer and find an STI that is newer to trade your truck in for. If you could find an 08+ STI that would be the one I would go after. I've had many STI's/Subarus and 08+ is the best so far. Oh and your going to miss having the Taco. ;)

I sold my '07 STI for the tacoma. It wasn't practical as my primary vehicle. Sure was fun though.

I just had my 07' STi stolen from my house when I was outta town, I absolutely loved my STi. The problem with the STi is they are a lot of fun but you get used to the power. Then you want it faster and faster. Not to mention the parts for an STi are expensive, it's def your call I'm a truck man myself but they are bad~ass!!

You should just trade it in at the dealer for a new WRX, as the new base model WRX's are faster 0-60 and through the quarter mile. You just don't get the cool look with the non sti body. It's your call though.

I just sold my '02 WRX in order to get my '07 Taco... I love both of them, for obvious reasons. The truck is more practical while still bad ass, but scoobys are waaay more fun... which over a few years translates into more tickets as well haha impossible to avoid in one of those. If you don't NEED a truck, then I'd say you can't go wrong with the trade.

Only issue I see is the front end on the 06 subarus... its the worst front end out of the 3 different styles from 02-07. the 02-03 bugeyes were tight, and then my favorite (which I didn't have) are the 04-05s... I'm not a fan of the 06-07 front end... but that being said, Subaru completely destroyed the entire impreza body style in 08 and turned them into Ford Focus look-alikes. so the 06 you're looking at is 10 times better than an 08+ !!!!

Dude if the insurance won't rape you, and you don't need a truck.. I'd probably hit up that sweet deal on the 06 wrx. That's my favorite body style by far. That's just me though.

All depends on what you like more and what best fits your needs. If you don't really use your truck for hauling stuff and going offroad etc, then get the Subie if that's what you're most excited about.

I was looking at getting a STi about two weeks prior to buying my Taco. It just wasn't as practical. I guess if you don't need the truck function... buy it.

I would say no if you have a 4 door. My friends all still have sport cars, i sold my 350z for my 4 door trd and now everyone wants to ride with me. I like it that way. Nothing like tailgaiting, driving up on the beach blastin the radio, carrying the mountain bikes in the bed. STI doesnt get better gas milage either. but i guess if you are in one of those crowds in college where you zoom around town and get speeding tickets then go for it. I was that guy for a long time and it was cool. Make a list and weigh the pros and cons for each. Best of luck.
