    Hey all...

I was replacing the standard bulbs in my vanity mirrors with LEDs and I think I shorted something out. None of my interior lights will come on, but as far as I can tell, that's it. I checked the dome fuse and it isn't blown, but I tried another fuse just to be safe...no joy. Any ideas?

    Gee, . . . . that's never happened before!!

Sorry I wasn't any help, but couldn't resist. There are a ton of posts about this. Many threads about fucking with the electrical system/lights and BOOM "my truck won't work".

Changing bulbs isn’t exactly “fucking with electrical systems.”

It’s a bulb. Normal wear and tear item. Do you think they’re not covered under warranty because the dealer can’t change them either without “fucking with electrical systems?”

All of the threads you at least correctly referred to are with LED bulb swaps. That’s the problem. Seems like vast majority of them are putting the bulbs in incorrectly.

The truck was not designed around LED's. They are a different animal.

I think the problem is the bulb changers.. but if you don’t, that’s fine.

My LEDs were directional.. make sure you have them in correctly.
Try putting back in the old bulbs.. do they work?

I changed mine and they're great. Had to use the tape method to get them in the map lights but no issues.

Geez. Is there a tutorial on how to wash and wax my new Tacoma?

Now I’m afraid if I do it wrong it won’t start!

So some of you are useless...

It's a simple question that is easier to ask for experience than try and search on my phone. But hey, everyone but you must be an idiot right.

So, for the people trying to help. I only had time to check the dome light fuse before I had to leave. It was fine. The original bulb is back in. My question is...is there another fuse I should check or could it be something else.

For those trolls who have nothing better to do than bitch about someone asking a question that may have been asked before...fuck off. Last time I checked, you weren't Jesus Christ.

Maybe try disconnecting the battery for few minutes ? I work on Internationals and they do some weird shit when you do simple things and I usually just hit the disconnect switch or unhook the battery and everything comes back if it's not a fuse.

^ oh good point - if these toyotas have smart junction boxes like fords, they can actually shut down the circuit when they see a short - /before/ the fuse pops - and they wont turn it back on until you clear the code - and disconnecting the battery would likely reset it

Everything on these newer Internationals goes through controllers and whatever and it plays tricks on me all the time working on them. It would be an easy place to start, 10mm wrench might save a trip to the dealer.
