Sounds like you got a Southeast Toyota special.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, the SR5 has an auto diming rear view mirror with compass, vanity mirrors in both sun visors, upgraded head unit with HD radio, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, additional functions on digital pod in dash., a bed light, Tacoma emblems, chrome rear bumper, etc. I'm probably still missing a few little things.
Basically lot's of little stuff you don't need but is nice to have. Also, the SR5 has more color options. I think I would miss the keyless entry, intermittent wipers, and the upgraded head unit the most.
I would be happy with an SR, but I can appreciate the 'upgrades' on the SR5.

Do you have a leather wrapped steering wheel?

I bought a new 2019 SR. When I was looking the difference was Wheels, Keyless Entry, Intermittent wipers, and Fog Lights. There may be a few other things, but I don't remember.

The dealership added keyless entry for $99.00 when I purchased it. I added intermittent wipers for less than $100.00. I knew a head of time I was going to put new wheels and tires on the truck, so the wheels didnt matter to me. As far as the fog lights go, I test drove the truck at night and I thought the normal headlights were fine.

    Not enough to list
They may not know what they are talking about, it also sounds like you didn't know what you were looking at. How does someone not know what they've bought?

    That's great!

If you plan on modding...just go with the cheaper one. You end up starting to pay for things that you're just upgrading yourself anyway.

My SR came with a towing package, keyless entry, CC, steel wheels and a real keys. It had everything I wanted except alloy’s and intermittant wipers which were a cheap $65 mod and the alloys are waiting to go on when I can figure out this TPMS crap.
When you’re sitting in the dealers office it’s easy to get excited and go overboard on the little shit you don’t really need but admittedly nice.
The dealers know this and try to sell you the highest trim levels they can.

You can get the SR as a 4x4 and v6 and painted to match bumpers and TSS lol. Not much you can’t get on them now.

Interesting, just looked on cars.com and all the SR5’s with steel wheels and no fender flares are in SE Toyota territory. Some have chrome bumpers, some have color matched. Some have leather steering wheels, some don’t. On Toyota.com these configurations aren’t possible.

Thats because they arent standard toyota configs. SET orders them specially for their region. Just like Hawaii has some special editions.

Yes, I’ve seen an 18 wheeler loaded with 7 matching Tacoma’s. Couldn’t tell you what package they truly were. They were all Blazing blue Pearl DCSBs They had SR5 wheels, TRD OR fender flares, chrome rear bumpers, all black front bumpers like the SR’s, OEM roof racks and running boards. They looked super weird.
