Dude same. My truck handles the speeds fine but my head gasket does not. I cruise in 4th gear at 2800 rpms doing about 60-65 and the truck loves it. It barely has to work

 

Also you’re in luck then because traffic is bountiful around here

 

So just regear to be slightly overgeared? That’d feel peppy.

 

Should I re-gear to go 285’s on my 4R?

 

Sometime in the next year I’m gonna manual swap this thing.

 

I’d drive it and see if you can live with stock gears before making a decision. You probably won’t need em.

Nope. I pretty much manual shuffle the gear anyway otherwise it’s a slug.

 

I didn’t but mine came with 4.30 gears from factory and like Joe said it’s not a race car

 

4.30s would make me so happy. Like fur reel

But i still want to be able to actually go “fast”

 

How can you find out the gear ratio on the 4R?

Already bought the new truck. Super clean for its age, not a spec of rot anywhere in the body, underside has some surface rust, but nothing rotted through yet. and only 89k on it.
